Shine Your Light - by Susan Ferguson
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16 KJV)
It's often said that Christians live in the world, but they're not of the world. We're called to shine light on a dark world and bring glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
We live in a world that exalts self, money, possessions, power, and even religion above God. The world's ways and beliefs are contrary to Biblical truths. Rather than blend in with the crowd, we are called to be different. We are called to live righteously and impact the world without being compromised by it.
The message of the Gospel is foolishness to unbelievers. (1 Corinthians 1:18) As Christ-followers, we can expect to be criticized and misunderstood. Nevertheless, we are called to share the Gospel and show love to those who walk in darkness. There's no higher calling than to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Christians need each other. The Bible encourages us to gather together for prayer, Bible study, and fellowship. Christ-centered fellowship challenges and encourages us, strengthens our walk with Christ, and stirs up our gifts. Striving for unity should be a high priority for Christians. Can the world recognize us by our love? Our lights shine brightest when we walk in unity.
