A New Perspective – by Annalise Hunnicutt
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
My sister, Kendall, and I used to play a game. The first person (the photographer) took my camera and zoomed in on a particular object. The other person (the guesser) looked at the photograph and tried to guess what it was. If she guessed right, then it was the guesser’s turn to take the camera. We had fun, but it would get challenging. There was one picture that I assumed to be corn, but when she zoomed out, I realized that it was really the center of a beautiful flower.
Life is like that game; sometimes you need to get a different point of view on things. You can’t always see the big picture or know how it all fits together when you’re only looking at one small part. If you are having trouble with something, try to look at it from a different perspective. It’s like a puzzle. If you are only looking at one piece, it is difficult to see the entire picture and to understand how that one piece will fit into the beautiful puzzle.
If you are struggling with a decision or a problem, always remember that the Lord is in control. He created this puzzle and will give you one piece at a time. Some pieces might be ugly or may not look like they belong, but you can’t just throw away that piece and ignore it. It belongs in the puzzle, and without it, you won’t see the beautiful picture at the end. God has plans for you, and they’re wonderful! These plans are to prosper and help us to grow in him, not to hurt or harm us.
