From Dr. Mike Evans:
In an unexpected move, President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority has announced his intention to seek recognition of a Palestinian state from international bodies. This is something Abbas has promised he would not do (of course, he is not known for keeping promises—he is now in the tenth year of his four-year term as president!), and Secretary of State John Kerry immediately canceled his scheduled meeting with Abbas for this week.
It was a stunning rejection of Kerry's peace plan—one analyst described the U.S. Secretary of State as “humiliated.” Yet it should come as no surprise to anyone who knows anything about the history of Palestinians and peace talks. I have been present at these meetings for decades, and as my friend Prime Minister Begin used to say, “The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.”
Since the U.S. peace plan is so damaging to Israel, it is no disappointment for the talks to collapse, but this latest Palestinian move to abandon their promises is just one more reminder that we must stand with Israel. And God has opened a great door for us to do that through the Friends of Zion Heritage Center...and we need your help today.
