Grassfire Update:
Wednesday Afternoon
Grassfire has learned that a U.S. district judge has tossed out a lawsuit that would have prevented the display of a cross-shaped steel beam in the Nation September 11 Memorial & Museum. The "Ground Zero Cross" was found among the debris of the World Trade Center in the aftermath of 9/11.
The group American Atheists claim the 17-foot-tall cross endorses Christianity. Their lawsuit and subsequent appeal touched off a national uprising from grassroots patriots who say the "Ground Zero Cross" provided inspiration and hope to first-responders.
In her ruling, Judge Deborah Batts said the cross "helps demonstrate how those at Ground Zero coped with the devastation they witnessed during the rescue and recovery effort." She also reiterated that the purpose of the cross was "historical and secular."
+ + 28,000 Citizen Signers Say "Yes" To The Cross
Upon learning of the effort to prevent the cross from being displayed in the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, Grassfire launched the "Save the Ground Zero Cross" petition. It quickly amassed more than 28,000 citizen signers representing all 50 states in support of the cross!

Tom, we are thankful that you took action and stood for this important symbol!
Unfortunately, not everyone applauded Judge Batts' ruling. American Atheists insists they will appeal. Their attorney said the decision to an attempt by the U.S. government "to endorse Christianity as the national religion of the United States." He added, "We don't like the ruling and we think it is incorrect.
Grassfire will continue to monitor this and other cases around the nation where crosses and other religious symbols are under siege. Should we again need to mobilize grassroots Americans to defend our religious freedom, count on Grassfire to sound the alarm so you can take action.
Thank you for taking a stand to save the "Ground Zero Cross."

My comments: Understand that the Cross of Christ represents all that Christ Jesus stands for: The Salvation of those who believe and the Eternal Damnation for those who do not. That is why the atheists hate the Cross.
