U.S. AMBASSADOR SLAMS PALESTINIANS FOR SILENCE IN WAKE OF DEADLY ATTACKS
Responding to US criticism of the Palestinian leadership for its silence in the wake of deadly attacks and for funding terror, the PA questions US objectivity in the conflict and avoids the point.
US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman condemned the Palestinian Authority (PA) for its silence in the wake of two recent terror attacks that claimed the lives of three young Israeli men, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Another two victims were seriously wounded, one critically.
In a tweet, Friedman stated, “Tragedy in Israel. 2 young soldiers, Netanel Kahalani and Ziv Daos, murdered in the North, and father of 4, Adiel Kolman, murdered in Jerusalem, by Palestinian terrorists. Such brutality and no condemnation from the PA! I pray for the families and the wounded – so much sadness,” according to the Post.
In early February, the Post added, Friedman commented on a deadly terror attack in Ariel, Samaria, attacking the Palestinian leadership for praising the terrorist. In response to that tweet, PA President Mahmoud Abbas’s spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that “the statements by the US ambassador lead us to wonder about the ambassador’s relationship with the occupation: Does he represent the US or Israel?”
Similarly, the Post continued, in January after the murder of another Israeli in Samaria, the ambassador tweeted, “An Israeli father of six was killed last night in cold blood by Palestinian terrorists. Hamas praises the killers and PA laws will provide them financial rewards. Look no further to why there is no peace. Praying for the bereaved Shevach family.”
The PA responded, “The American ambassador in Tel Aviv is known for his predetermined positions, which reflect a total bias in favor of the occupation and settlement,” the Post said.
