God’s Stars – Toni M. Babcock
You may have heard about the lengths people go through to become stars in Hollywood.
It typically takes a combination of raw talent, determination, and stand-out looks to make it big in ‘Tinsel town’.
But the kingdom of God features a completely different kind of stardom.
In the last chapter of the book of Daniel (yes, the same Daniel that spent time in the lion’s den) we read about God’s unique ‘stars’.
Daniel wrote that in the latter days “Those who have insight will shine like the bright expanse of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.” (Daniel 12:3 CSB).
Stars that shine brightest in God’s kingdom are noted for their keen insight.
Surely this indicates they live their life bathing themselves in the light of God’s Word, and as such demonstrate great wisdom in word and deed.
It also indicates they value the time they spend in worship and communion with God.
They become stars who pursue a passion — not in making themselves famous in this life, but in leading others to a saving knowledge of Jesus, the ‘way and the truth and the life’ (cf. John 14:6 NIV).
In other words, not only do they receive the righteousness of Christ for themselves, but strive in their lifetime to point others to His righteousness, too.
The world tends to be puffed up, and wise in its own conceits, but a ‘star’ in the Kingdom of God puts Christ first, lifts up others, and is never conceited.
God’s star is humble, loving and kind, and always looking for ways to make others shine for Jesus Christ.
What kind of star are you in God’s kingdom?
