“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NASB
Each morning when I wake up, whether cloudy or sunny, I’m mindful to thank our Lord for the rest He’s given me.
Some nights might be with less sleep than others. but I always recognize the presence of God’s Holy Spirit that is with me always, and in all ways.
One might be recognized as a ‘Golden Ager’ as I am, or still among the work force as one making time for work and family responsibilities. In either case we’re employed under God’s power.
I’m always working to be a better listener, both to the voice of His Holy Spirit in me along with listening to the voice of God’s word (cf. Psalm 103:20), but no matter how much time we spend in reading and meditating upon God’s promises, God’s power is at work leading and teaching us to ‘decrease’ and Jesus to ‘increase’ (cf. John 3:30).
Our Lord reminds us from John’s epistle that we are God’s little children because ‘greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world,’ — again, the power of God’s presence and His Holy Spirit leading us.
Decisions throughout each day are revelations God is going before us, as much as God with the Israelites of old during their forty years of searching for the Promised Land.
We may not visibly see the ‘cloud by day’, or the ‘fire by night,’ but Christ is living in us (cf. Galatians 2:20) allowing us to witness the result of each day’s events.
Watching one of my younger grandsons exhibit his prowess during one of his soccer games was even teaching me to remain ‘steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord, one’s labor is never in vain.’ (1 Corinthians 15:58).
I was reminded… please be patient, God is not finished with me yet!
