Jesus Is Our Passport

“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20 ESV

It really is going to be the most wonderful, planned move we’ll ever make; an everlasting move without having to wait in a long line at ‘customs.’ 

‘In the twinkling of an eye….’ yes, the trumpet will call like no other — more than a morning bugle reveille call to get up in the morning. 

The best part about this move is that it’s a pre-paid journey that will be everlasting; pre-paid, because the purchase-cost was done for us by God’s Son at the cross.

There is but one requirement to qualify, to receive this most wonderful gift.

 
“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.’” Romans 10:9-11.

This wonderful gift from the One who created us wants that none should be left behind (cf: 2 Peter 3:9), but that all should be surrendered to God, submitting to His invitation. 

Our Lord uses the word ‘repentance,’ meaning a turning away from the insufficiency to live one’s life through his or her own reasoning and ability and turning to God’s sufficiency.

God announced this opportunity as prophecy fulfilled when the angels announced His Son’s arrival at the first Advent. 

If we keep looking ahead and looking up, as instructed from God’s Word, we need not take any luggage with us.
