“Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by his divine power.” 2 Peter 1:3 (The Passion)

This is an incredible promise that we can hardly comprehend. 

Paul declares that everything we need to reflect God's divine nature has already been given to us. 

In fact, we possess these gifts in abundant supply (2 Peter 1:8). 

Moreover, Paul reiterates this same theme in Ephesians 1:3 saying that “every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father.”

However, what exactly are these gifts Paul says we have abounding within us? 

They are the virtues that will keep us from being inactive in our pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ more fully. 

They are the magnificent traits of our dear Heavenly Father, through which we can experience partnership with His divine nature, taking on the divine family image. 

Planted deep within us, like a seed waiting to grow is God's DNA. 

They are the virtues of faith, goodness, understanding, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, mercy and enduring love. This is truly everything we need for a full life in Christ and a pure devotion to God. (2 Peter 1: 5-7).

But this is not a passive affair. 

We must make every effort to support our faith with these virtues and devote ourselves to doing so. 

The Spirit of God enables this formation process. 

So be encouraged! 

God longs to see us grow up in His likeness, validating His call upon our life and prove to a watching world that we are His people.
