A Joyful Heart
Tricia Draper
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” (Romans 12:12 NIV)
We’re created to be joyful people.
God didn’t make us to be sad and pitiful creatures.
He formed us in our mother’s womb.
He joyfully created us, and we should joyfully praise Him for all His mighty works.
We can have joy on the worst day of our lives because joy comes from our spirits and not our feelings.
We may feel unhappy, but we always have the possibility of joy.
When we have abundant joy, we can’t help but be joyful people.
The Bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength. (Nehemiah 8:10 NIV)
One definition of hope is a confident, joyful expectation something good will happen.
The Apostle Paul told the church at Rome to be “joyful in hope”.
That means we should be expecting joyful things to surround us.
When we live with hope, we are encouraged.
We see life in a new way.
We’re not looking for bad things to happen all the time.
We’re living joyful lives.
Father, I come to You today with a joyful heart. You’ve allowed me to have joy in every situation. I love and thank You for pouring Your joy onto me. Please help me to always live a joyful life founded in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
