'Two plus two equals five.' Orwell's '1984' is here

In “1984,” George Orwell’s famous novel about a nightmarish future society, the main character Winston Smith runs afoul of the ruling “Party” for insisting that “two plus two make four.”
Only after being tortured by those in power does he come around to agreeing that, of course, “two plus two make five.”
America in 2021 has become Orwell’s “1984.”
In New York City, math education Professor Laurie Rubel claims the whole notion that “2+2=4” is one that “reeks of white supremacist patriarchy.”
As the Brooklyn College prof explained in a tweet to her followers: “The idea that math (or data) is culturally neutral or in any way objective is a MYTH.
… Along with the 'Of course math is neutral because 2+2=4' trope are the related (and creepy) 'Math is pure' and 'Protect math.'
Reeks of white supremacist patriarchy.
I'd rather think on nurturing people & protecting the planet (with math in service of them goals).”
Unfortunately, the academy’s Marxist madness inexorably seeps into public education, from high school down to preschool.
In Oregon, for example, the state’s education department is promoting “A Pathway to Math Equity,” intended to train teachers in how to “dismantle racism in mathematics instruction.”

“We see white supremacy culture show up in the mathematics classroom even as we carry out our professional responsibilities,” declares the teachers’ guide, which demands that educators take responsibility for “visualizing the toxic characteristics of white supremacy culture with respect to math.”
The main “toxic characteristic” being the old-fashioned focus on getting the “right” answer.
“The concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false,” declares the course’s “toolkit,” “and teaching it is even much less so.
Upholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity as well as fear of open conflict.”
This, of course, is genuinely insane.
Just as with “white supremacist” math,” Rutgers University recently determined that speaking and writing English correctly is also racist.
The school’s English department is altering its grammar standards to “stand with and respond” to the Black Lives Matter movement and emphasize "social justice" and "critical grammar" over irrelevancies like correct spelling and grammar.
As the Washington Free Beacon reported, the new "critical grammar" approach challenges the standard form of the English language in favor of a more “inclusive” writing experience, noting “the curriculum puts an emphasis on the variability of the English language instead of accuracy.”
The English Department is even offering an internship titled "Decolonizing the Writing Center" to make writing “more linguistically diverse."
To recap: Insisting that two plus two equals four and that there are correct and incorrect ways to spell, write and speak English are indicative of “white supremacist patriarchy” and a need for “decolonization.”
Back to “1984,” where a deeper question lurks:
Why does the ruling elite insist “two plus two make five”?
Explains Orwell, “It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. … the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy.”
“After all,” muses the perplexed protagonist Winston, “how do we know that two and two make four?
Or that the force of gravity works?
Or that the past is unchangeable?
If both the past and the external world exist only in the mind, and if the mind itself is controllable – what then?”
According to Orwell, when the ruling Party insists there’s no objective reality, the underlying message is that the entire universe exists only in human beings’ minds, which the Party controls – and therefore the Party controls the universe.
If this power-obsessed insanity sounds uncomfortably familiar, it’s because the denial of objective reality – which to those in power confers the delusion they can control not just people’s minds, but reality itself, like gods
– is very much the political, psychological and spiritual identity of today’s Democratic Party.
Indeed, the madness of “the Party” in “1984” is shared by the ruling Democratic Party in 2021 America, and is spreading across the land like a pandemic.
Today, the Democratic Party, while claiming to be the party of science, operates in stupefying denial of basic biology.
It holds that there are dozens of different genders – but then, relative truth can accommodate an infinite number of new genders.
Today’s Democrats believe men can menstruate, get pregnant, have babies and “chest-feed” their little ones.
On the other hand, babies aren’t actually human until the moment they’re born, when they suddenly are magically transformed into precious children.
One minute earlier they were just bio-waste, unwanted tumor-like tissue to be destroyed at will (by means of poison, decapitation, chemical burning or induced heart attack) and discarded
– but only if “the mother and her doctor” so decide.
Let that sink in: Whether “it” is the most precious thing in the universe – a newborn human baby, created in the image of God
– or just an unwanted and disposable mass of organic matter, has no objective reality.
The answer is only to be found in the minds of the god-like beings wielding power over “it”
– just as two plus two can equal four, or five if you prefer.
Either way is OK.
It’s your personal truth.
That’s how a man can one day decide that he is now a woman.
It’s all in his mind.
The same delusional worldview impels Democrats to promise voters that electing them to positions of power will somehow enable them to change the world’s weather (their version of Orwell’s “the Party controls the universe”).
It permits them to revise history by going back in time and making 1619 the year of America’s founding rather than 1776, while retroactively assigning an evil, racist and often genocidal intent to most everything earlier generations of Americans did (their version of Orwell’s changing the past).
And it permits them to proclaim that all white people today are racists, that Trump voters are “domestic terrorists,” that throwing open America’s borders and inviting the entire world to invade this nation isn’t suicidal, and that an ill-tempered, lying, corrupt, doddering, shockingly demented old man who continually forgets where is and what he’s doing is somehow a great, wise and unifying president.
Most disturbing of all, however, is what is occurring in America’s schools.
The next generation is literally at stake.
Picking up the Marxist “virus” from the nation’s colleges and universities, today’s government schools
– from pre-school through high school – are infecting millions of children with hatred and guilt toward their own country.
This is happening right now.
In “1984,” the “Party” controls everything in the mythical state of Oceania – from its politics to its culture to its economy.
But what the ruling oligarchy most craves, which enables it to exercise full totalitarian control of its citizens, is shaping and taking control of the people’s thoughts, feelings, emotions, attitudes, beliefs, guilts, comforts, and particularly their sense of moral self-worth.
This is precisely what today’s “woke” “progressive” “left” (all Marxist code words) is engaged in doing in every corner of society
– but nowhere more consequentially than in education.
Remember Abraham Lincoln’s chilling observation:
“The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.”
