Longing for Better Times

I like it when I have no relationship, financial or medical concerns. 

Don’t we all? 

However, we all know, life isn’t like that most of the time.

Jeremiah was one of God’s special prophets. Nevertheless, the king threw him in prison (Jer 37). 

He was thrown into a cistern (Jer 38). 

He was taken against his will to Egypt (Jer 43). 

His neighbors rejected him (Jer 11), as did his family (Jer 12).

He had it rough because he spoke an unwelcome truth. 

He told the people to repent and turn to God, or they would be taken captive. 

Precisely what God told him to say. 

Imagine how he felt after obeying God; being taken captive to Egypt himself.

As Jeremiah had to go to Egypt as part of God’s plan, so we may have to experience some unpleasantness even when we have done nothing wrong. 

When you are experiencing some tough times, know that God is aware of every detail of what you are going through and He will be with you. 

Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20, 

“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

It also helps to remind ourselves that this life is short in comparison to the glory of eternity. 

James 4:14 asks, 

“What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Take hope. 

We have eternity with Jesus without the problems that weigh us down now.

“Dear Lord, I need you now more than ever. Help my faith in you to grow during these turbulent times, and may I be an example of Godly trust. Amen.”
