Fear
Marlene Custer
This pandemic is not getting any better.
Will the schools close?
Will I lose my job?
Will I be spending the Holidays alone without family or friends?
If I get sick will there be medical facilities available?
Fear seems to be washing over people in waves.
When such fears begin to overwhelm us, it is way past time to open God’s Word and soak in His presence.
When such fears begin to overwhelm us, it is way past time to open God’s Word and soak in His presence.
One of the most well-known promises of Scripture is Psalms 23:4,
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”
In the 46th Psalm the Psalmist assures us,
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea...”
The Apostle Paul informed the Galatians that one of the fruits of the Spirit is ‘peace’.
The Apostle Paul informed the Galatians that one of the fruits of the Spirit is ‘peace’.
He advised the Colossians that they should
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts...”
Fear and peace cannot reside together.
As you draw strength from God’s Word and presence, reach out to someone else and encourage them.
You may have to be creative in sharing with others using social media, the phone, zoom, or some other form of communication.
We need each other more than ever right now.
So, whatever it takes, just do it.
You will benefit just as much as they do.
Above all, “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...”.
“Jesus, please help me to spend time with You, studying your Word.
Above all, “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly...”.
“Jesus, please help me to spend time with You, studying your Word.
Dispel my fears.
Then help me to reach out to others that need to be encouraged during these trying times. Amen.”
