Make it Happen

“Stop your fighting, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth,” (Psalm 46:10 CSB).
As long as we as a people assume the moral superiority of God by exalting ourselves—we will never stop fighting and it will be impossible to fulfill the Lord’s directive.
Instead, we’ll increasingly become a culture filled with divisiveness, hate, screaming screeds, and one-sided slogans that miss the mark of attaining a truly just and righteous outcome for all.
What humans naturally lack is humility — and that begins with knowing God.

“Know that I am God,” He reminds us, and herein lies the answer to our deepest divides.
When we truly know God, we come to realize we are not God—and begin to understand how accountable we are to the God who is.
We start listening to one another on a deeper level and seek to understand one another’s position.
We stop self-righteously accusing one another and seek to figure out where we’ve gone wrong and make amends.
We stop pointing out everyone else’s mistakes and quit taking words out of context to score a point.
We stop demanding respect but gain it by living true to God and showing respect to others.
If you’re as tired of all the political noise as I am these days, look for ways to escape the madness.

Make prayer and the study of God’s Word a top priority.
Limit your time scrolling newsfeeds and take a walk in the park instead.
Have a social media fast for a day, a week, a month — whatever it takes.
God deserves to be “exalted among the nations, and on the earth.”
Let’s make it happen together.
