Love
the Lord ...
Moses
said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you
today are to be on your hearts. (Deuteronomy 6:5-6)
Hearing
that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus
replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and
greatest commandment. (Matthew 22:34-38)
If
anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them
and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have
confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus.
(1 John 4:15-17)
When
the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal
with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true:
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:54)
Dear
friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet
been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be
like him, for we shall see him as he is (face to face). (1 John 3:2)
