High School Football Team Under Fire For Posting With Pro-Police Flag

The following is a transcript of Todd’s morning radio commentary.
There’s a longstanding tradition during football season in Marysville, Ohio.
The high school players pose for a promotional picture – paid for by the Monarch Quarterback club.
This year the Marysville Monarchs decided to honor law enforcement and first responders.
So the guys got dressed up in their uniforms and had their pictures atop a train engine.
The young men were waving flags – the American flag – the Ohio flag. And they also posted flags representing first responders – including the Thin Blue Line flag.
That turned out to be a problem for some local residents who posted complaints on social media – angry that the football team would show their support for police officers.
“I have never been more disgusted or ashamed to be a graduate of Marysville High School,” wrote one disgusted citizen.
“This is a clear example of school-sponsored speech in favor of blue lives matter and border patrol.
Robin Thompson, the photographer was dumbfounded, telling the local ABC television station that some of the boys have family members who are first responders.
“This is NOT a political photo nor a political statement of any kind.
If you are trying to make it into that, it is because you are making assumptions. Please stop.
No more assumptions,” she told the Union County Daily Digital.
It’s a terrific photo, Ms. Thompson and the young men should be commended for their thoughtfulness — using a team photograph to honor our first responders and the U.S. military.
As we say in Tennessee — those young men were raised right.
As for the angry mob lashing out at the teenagers and the school district – shame on you. Just stop it.
