Dear WND reader,
I recently received an email message from one of our readers who asked me this question.
"You're working so hard to keep WND afloat, and you write to me often seeking my help to keep WND going.
I love WND. I like having a place I can go to for real news that I can trust. But if you're having so much trouble keeping the doors open and with so much working against you, maybe it's time to move on ...
Why do you keep fighting?"
—Robert C. Alexandria, VA
Asking "Why we fight" is a great question worthy of an honest answer.
To everyone here at WND — and even our friends that we have been forced to lay off to stay in business — WND isn't just a place to work.
Rather, our reporters, editors, columnists, operations team, tech experts, business and accounting associates and so many others work night and day to keep WND going because we feel called to do so as part of our Christian walk.
This conviction that WND serves a higher purpose goes back to 1997, when we launched WorldNetDaily as the first Internet-based journalism organization — intending, then as now, to serve the largely ignored but huge number of center-right, hardworking, God-fearing, freedom-loving Americans — today commonly referred to as "deplorables."
In the beginning, and for many years, WND — as a huge news website with millions of readers — grew in influence and reach, paying its bills and expanding thanks to the revenue we received from major advertising clients.
But now that Google and Facebook have established a virtual monopoly on online ad revenue (together controlling more than 90% of all digital advertising), we have been forced to switch business models from our former "advertising-supported" model to a "reader-supported" one. Thus, we frequently reach out to our readers for the voluntary donations we need, and must have, to continue to exist.
Some might ask whether we have cut our budget to the bone and eliminated "fat?"
The sad answer is yes — and a lot more.
We've laid off more than two-thirds of our staff, reduced pay across the board, moved to less expensive offices, and reduced employee benefits including healthcare, vision and dental coverage, and so on — you name it.
In many ways, in light of the relentless challenges we have faced, even the fact that WND is still in business is nothing short of a miracle.
[PLEASE DONATE]
Make no mistake.
Boldly reporting the truth day after day — which in the current era of ubiquitous lying, hoaxes within hoaxes, rolling coup attempts, men who think they're women, communists who think they should be president, and constant defamation and degradation not just of President Trump but of all of his supporters ("deplorables") — is more important for America's future wellbeing than anything else. That is "Why we fight" — so we can publish the truth every single day, seven days a week, as we have for 22 years. But we simply need your help to keep our doors open.
Will you help WND fight with a voluntary donation of $10, $25, $50, $75, $100 or more today?
Thank you in advance for your help today, and may God bless you.
David Kupelian Vice President and Managing Editor WND
P.S. Please remember that without WND covering stories about anti-Christian bigotry and persecution, attacks on our Constitution, the LGBT movement's never-ending attacks on biblical culture and morality, the ongoing coup d'etat by the left and the Deep State against both the president and America herself, and so many other important issues, almost no other news organization will do it.
The best way to help WND fight on and keep reporting news the Establishment Media wants to pretend doesn't exist is if you help WND with a donation of $10, $25, $50, $75, $100 or more today.
Thanks.
