How the 'Squad' actually benefits America
Exclusive: Brent Smith lauds Trump for describing women as face of Democratic Party
Many on the right and left wish to see "The Squad" just go away. They're hoping that these radicals – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley – are all defeated in the next election.
But I tend to agree with President Trump. Give them a soap box and a microphone, and allow them to spout their radical leftist nonsense all they like. Allow them the opportunity to continue to drag the Democratic Party further left, while driving the likes of Nancy Pelosi and the old-guard leadership nuts.
As they force the left further toward communism, even liberals, who just a few years ago we classified as leftist, appear almost reasonable – at least at times, and relative to this new crop.
It just goes to show, once again, that no matter how woke and cutting-edge progressive you think you are, there will always be someone more radical.
Remember the good ol' days, when the leftists were people like Bill Maher and John Stewart?
If it doesn't seem like that long ago, you'd be right. It wasn't.
Barack Obama, many on the right claimed, would be the death of the republic. Now he'd be hard-pressed to even win the Democratic nomination.
The left has descended so rapidly down the rabbit hole of radicalism that everything seems to be traveling at light-speed.
Gone are the days when liberals were just annoying loud mouths.
A perfect example of a woke leftist not being woke enough is Bill Maher agreeing with Trump that Israel made the right decision barring the Jew-haters, Tlaib and Omar, entry to Israel.
Tlaib took to Twitter to call for a boycott of Maher's HBO program and played the "people of color" card – treating him like some right-wing nut job.
Well, that's at least half-right. He is a nut job, but hardly right-wing. And we can add foul-mouthed to the list while we're at it. I guess that's one thing he and Tlaib have in common.
But I congratulate Maher for not kowtowing to these anti-Semites as he fired right back at her. This is unusual, however, as most leftists appear to fear the Squad.
This incident proves my original point. Maher is hard left, but he's not radical enough. And for daring to push back, he should be stoned in the village square (figuratively speaking) and his HBO program yanked off the air.
This is teachable moment, one I think the president recognizes.
In the end, I think we'll find that the women of the Squad and those like the violent fascists of antifa will have done more than the conservative movement to set the nation right again.
Thomas Jefferson wrote, "The most effectual means of preventing [the perversion of power into tyranny are] to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, and more especially to give them knowledge of those facts which history exhibits, that possessed thereby of the experience of other ages and countries, they may be enabled to know ambition under all its shapes, and prompt to exert their natural powers to defeat its purposes."
It's why President Trump insists on keeping the Squad, front and center, as the face of this new Democratic "socialist" Party. The more radical they look, the more the people at large will see them and their movement for what it is, and reject them and it.
