Finding Eternal Life
Marlene Custer
Years ago, there was a board game that I loved to play. ‘Clue’ was played with cards that displayed characters, weapons, and locations in a mansion.
The top card from each card type was placed in an envelope and placed in the middle of the board. Players moved tokens around and used deductive reasoning to determine what cards other players were holding.
Once that was determined, a player could solve the mystery of who was the murderer, what was used to commit the crime, and in what room it took place.
Life is full of mysteries for which we seek clues.
The most critical mystery that confronted me was what happens when I die?
Is there an Eternity?
Where will I spend it?
God does not want us to be clueless.
He gave us the Bible to answer these questions.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)
When Jesus was talking with His disciples about the way to Heaven in John 14:6, He said,
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The Apostle Paul reconfirmed this truth when he declared to the Romans,
“if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9 NIV)
No second guessing here.
The clues make it abundantly clear!
