Dear Friend,
On January 29, the Natural Resources Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives--now led by Democrats--released draft rules to guide them in the years to come.
They proposed striking the four words "so help me God" from the oath administered to witnesses.
It was a deliberate slap in the face to our nation's Christian foundation. It was also one more in a series of alarming wake-up calls to the church.
Thankfully, because of outcry from FRC and others, the committee reversed course. But this attempt is yet another indicator of how America has lost its way. Emboldened by the silence and absence of the church, the U.S. is experiencing a rapid moral and religious decline.
We cannot sugar-coat the current situation: there is very little fear of God in our land.
That's why the presence of Family Research Council on Capitol Hill and across our nation matters. Your gift helps sustain our work of calling families and leaders back to truth!
Today, the weakest link continues to be the silence of the church.
Because some believers think of their faith as private, they don't get involved or stand for truth. It's as if they keep their faith next to their Bible in a box and only take them out on Sundays for church. But this does not reflect a life defined by God's word.
True faith touches every area of our lives, as 1st Corinthians 10:31 says: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."
If what we eat and drink is relevant to God, then how much moreinterested must He be in how our faith permeates everything we do? It's that purpose that drives our mission at FRC.
This is why FRC's annual Watchmen on the Wall pastors conference is so very essential.
Beginning on May 22, FRC will host 500 pastors and their wives in Washington, D.C. for an important conference.
Our team and several national leaders will educate and activate them to stand for core principles--such as how being pro-life is not a label. Rather, it is living out the truth of Scripture.
We are so committed to this initiative, conference fees for every attendee are below the costs FRC incurs--and that's in addition to the many who will receive a sponsored full scholarship.
Why? Because you cannot put a value on a nation that acknowledges God and walks according to His principles.
For the sake of America, your generous donation advances your voice through FRC's work. Will you make a special gift today to help with this work of education and mobilization?
Even as we work in D.C. on the front lines, FRC has developed a Watchmen Pastors network of more than 14,500 pastors who are standing strong in their congregations and communities.
Equipped by FRC, they are boldly challenging citizens in their circles of influence to stand up!
Our nation's journey has parallels with that of Israel in the Old Testament. Several times over many centuries, they lost their faith and came back.
In 240 years of U.S. history, America too has followed such a cyclical pattern... and we are past due for an awakening of conscience and spiritual fervor.
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord," states Psalm 33:12.
Each of us has a role to play in seeing that promise fulfilled, first, as individuals, coming before God. Then, collectively, we live out our faith in the public square. It is our right and our duty.
We do it by raising up godly children and grandchildren, showing compassion, engaging in advocacy, and a thousand other ways--such as partnership with FRC, your Christian voice on Capitol Hill.
Faith isn't just for private thoughts but for public life, which we demonstrate every day in our work.
Here in Washington and across the nation, we need to expand the influence of faithful men and women like you. We are grateful for your partnership with FRC that makes it happen.
