Dear Friend,
Just a few weeks ago, the Supreme Court heard the Peace Cross case.
As a lawyer for the American Humanist Association argued to remove a 94-year-old monument to fallen heroes, merely because it is in the shape of a cross, we saw plainly what FRC and other groups are up against.
These forces want to remove any hint of faith in the public square. They want to make religious freedom subservient to their view of "anything goes" sexuality. Everything is affected by the loss of religious freedom.
We are talking about the ability to live our lives and act according to the teachings of our faith. It affects our ability to provide for our families. It affects our ability to advocate for the sanctity of human life. It affects our ability to raise our children to follow the Lord.
Today, the courts, Congress, and hostile media are assaulting our values and religious freedom at every turn. It's why I am asking for your help to support FRC in our mission.
When our Founders wrote the Constitution, the right to religious freedom was firm, fast, and recognized by all.
The First Amendment made it plain -- and it remains obvious for all to see! A recent McLaughlin & Associates poll showed 71 percent of Americans agree that "people should be free to follow their beliefs."
Yet, today, our constitutional first freedom is being swept away by destructive forces -- often through court rulings that have no basis in U.S. law. The late Justice Antonin Scalia often stated exactly that during his years on the high court.
Back in 2015, Justice Scalia was stunned after reading his Supreme Court colleagues' decision to legalize same-sex marriage. He wrote in his dissent:
"The Supreme Court has descended from disciplined legal reasoning... to the mystical aphorisms of the fortune cookie."
He also wrote of religious liberty battles he saw on the horizon -- a warning proven all too true. With your generous donation, FRC can push back against this tide with truth, clarity, and a clear defense of what is right.
In our own strength and power, the future can look bleak at times. This past January Second Lady Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, returned to teaching art as she did when he was a member of Congress.
Mrs. Pence is teaching at a private Christian school in northern Virginia -- one where faculty commit to conduct themselves in accordance with historic, orthodox Christian doctrine.
Somehow, her part-time position as art teacher made even international news. "U.S. Vice President's Wife to Teach at Anti-LGBT School," stated a BBC News headline. (No bias there!)
As Christians, religious liberty means that whatever we do, we do it to the glory of God. What we teach our children and allow them to be taught should bring God glory. It's become a harder task, as today there is ample evidence that our culture is headed in the wrong direction.
Yet God can still turn the heart of a nation. The words of 2 Chronicles 7:14 still echo today:
"If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
In the history of this nation and of mankind, there have been times when groups of people moved away from God. But God is gracious, as the Scriptures reveal. What is does not have to become what will be.
Your much-needed support enables FRC to maintain our strategic location in our nation's capital, just blocks from the White House and Capitol Hill to be a voice of counsel and influence with elected leaders.
Every dollar you give also bolsters our mission to strategize and speak up on the many religious freedom battles our nation is facing today.
The reality is, the God we serve is waiting to intervene in the world today -- in your life, my life, and the life of our nation. And He has given us the ability to partner with Him.
When I played high school football, I didn't want to be on the sidelines watching. I wanted to be right where it counted! Win or lose, I played my heart out in the midst of the battle. God has entrusted us with this generation at this moment in time. Thank you for standing with us.
