Friend -- You and I are living at a time when battle lines are forming, and the enemies of Israel are showing their hands. • In the United States, new, strident and powerful anti-Israel voices are challenging the bipartisan pro-Israel coalition that once dominated American politics. A record 90 Muslims threw their hat into the ring for various local, state and federal offices this year, as is their right. Fifty or fewer remain in the running since the primaries. But if these Muslim office-seekers subscribe to the virulent anti-Semitism in the Qu’ran, the future of American support for Israel could be at risk. But the threat to Israel stem not only from Muslim candidates. Other Democratic and Republican office-seekers are also openly anti-Israel, even anti-Semitic. Growing opposition to Israel is a dangerous trend in American politics. • In Britain, an open anti-Semite has a real shot at becoming the United Kingdom’s next prime minister. • All this while Israel looks across its borders at vicious neighbors intent on its destruction. This week, Russia delivered four S-300 air defense systems to Syria, despite opposition to the move from the US and Israel. U.S. and Israeli leaders call the move a “serious escalation.” The delivery follows the Russia-Israel conflict over who is responsible for the downing of a Russian plane that killed all 15 onboard. Meanwhile, Iran pours billions into its military and showers scorn on Israel, blasting it as a “malignant cancerous tumor … that has to be removed.” Iran’s proxy, Hezbollah, has stockpiled more than 100,000 missiles in Lebanon, with some 70,000 in Syria … all aimed at Israel. And Hezbollah’s leader threatens, “The day of the great war is coming.” • The European Union is doing everything possible to salvage the disastrous nuclear deal with Iran—a pact that “paves Iran’s path to the bomb,” as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declares in disgust. • Add to all this the BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) movement to delegitimize and destroy Israel, the unrelenting "diplomatic" war waged against Israel at the UN, and surging anti-Semitism worldwide. Because new and malign threats are turning Israel’s horizon dark, I’m asking you to take two simple steps today—actions that will make a huge impact for Israel . . . First, show your love for Israel by pledging to Pray for Israel. Prayer is a powerful way to bless Israel . . . and that’s what you’ll be doing each time you intercede on Israel’s behalf.
