SCOTUS SEAT - "OUR RIGHTS HANG IN THE BALANCE"

In a New York Times op-ed, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wrote, "Our rights hang in the balance" with this soon to be vacant Supreme Court seat. He is certainly correct, but his vision of "rights" and mine are quite different. See my important update below — Mat.

President Trump scheduled Monday night at 9 ET for the announcement of his Supreme Court nominee. He told reporters on Air Force One, "I think I have it down to four people. And I think of the four people, I have it down to three or two." 

Early reports indicate the frontrunners to be Judges Brett Kavanaugh, Raymond Kethledge, Thomas Hardiman, and Amy Coney Barrett.

+ + Democrats are already mobilizing to derail the nominee, whoever he or she is.

As reported by VOX, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is "aiming to leverage flashpoint issues like abortion and health care to gin up public pressure on some of the lawmakers who sit a bit closer to the center. '

I'd like to see massive marches and rallies and protests,' he said during a recent town hall teleconference, per WNYC."
In a New York Times op-ed, the Senate Minority Leader wrote that 

"Our rights hang in the balance" with this Supreme Court seat. "Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement has created the most important vacancy on the Supreme Court in our lifetimes. Whoever fills Justice Kennedy's seat will join an evenly divided court with the ability to affect the laws of the United States and the rights of its citizens for generations. Enormously important issues hang in the balance," which Schumer lists, among others, as same-sex marriage, abortion, and ObamaCare.

Senator Schumer is correct that "our rights hang in the balance" with President Trump's SCOTUS pick for this "important vacancy." 

With a conservative justice in that seat, we could witness a historic restoration of the rights of people of faith as it relates to the marriage issue, defending life, upholding faith, and honoring the natural family. It would be the most conservative court in 80 years, according to one analyst.

Last fall, Senate Democrats displayed a profound anti-faith bigotry toward Amy Coney Barrett's deeply held beliefs during her Senate confirmation hearings to the Seventh Circuit Court. Barrett's contentious confirmation process is just a small foretaste of the measures Senate Democrats are expected to use as they attempt to derail any of President Trump's SCOTUS nominees.
