Kendrick Lamar's New Album Is Going To Be All About The Lord God, And Here's Why
Mar 03, 2017 by Will Maule
Popular rapper Kenrick Lamar is currently recording his newest record to follow on from his 2015 release To Pimp A Butterfly. And this album is set to be heavily focused on God. "“To Pimp a Butterfly” was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore," Lamar told The New York Times.
He believes that God is being left out the public conversation, and that it is time to bring Him back! "We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God.
Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system," he says.
His previous albums have featured his faith. At the start of good kid, m.A.A.d. city Lamar opens with a prayer:
Lord God, I come to you a sinner, and I humbly repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus is Lord. I believe that you raised him from the dead. I will ask that Jesus will come to my life and be my Lord and savior . I receive Jesus to take control of my life, and that I may live for him from this day forth. Thank you lord Jesus for saving me with your precious blood. In Jesus name, amen.
