HILLARY CAMP TRIED 'TO INSULATE ISLAM FROM TERRORISM'
Expert warns Dem candidate 'likely to be even worse than Obama' on jihadi mayhem
Paul Bremmer
Two Hillary Clinton campaign officials expressed disappointment last December when they found out one of the San Bernardino terrorists had an ethnic-sounding name. This was revealed in a private email released by WikiLeaks.
Which suggests, strongly, that a Hillary Clinton White House could be focused on insulating Islam from terror and she would “likely” be worse than Barack Obama
It was after MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted, “NBC News now reporting a U.S. citizen named Sayeed Farouk [sic] believed to be one of the people involved in the shooting” that Karen Finney, a Clinton campaign spokeswoman, responded in an internal email with one word: “Damn.”
She then forwarded the tweet with her response to John Podesta, the Clinton campaign chairman. Podesta emailed back, “Better if a guy named Sayeed Farouk [sic] was reporting that a guy named Christopher Hayes was the shooter.”
This exchange took place on Dec. 2, 2015, the same day Syed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, killed 14 people in a terrorist attack at a Christmas party in San Bernardino. They were both devout Sunni Muslims who had traveled to and from Saudi Arabia in the years leading up to the attack.
Philip Haney, a retired Department of Homeland Security officer, told WND the Podesta-Finney exchange was “just another expression of the overall attempt to insulate Islam from terrorism so that they can maintain their narrative that Islam is not a threat to us.”
Haney, author of the tell-all book “See Something, Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad,” said he doesn’t see how a Hillary Clinton administration could effectively fight terrorism if staffers are concerned about shielding an entire class of people from blame.
“If you’re investigating any network or organization that was comprised of a particular ethnic group or belief, and you make it an overt policy that you cannot include that in the development of your case, then how can you possibly be effective?” Haney reasoned. “You can’t be, because to this point, at least, they have consistently refused to acknowledge or discuss the plainly stated goal of the global Islamic movement, which is the implementation of Shariah law.”
Haney pointed out Hillary Clinton has been involved in several initiatives designed to insulate Islam from any association with terrorism, including UN Resolution 16/18 and the Istanbul Process. UN Resolution 16/18, approved in March 2011, called on governments to outlaw all speech that “constitutes an incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence” toward a religious group.
In July 2011, then-Secretary of State Clinton thanked the Organization of Islamic Conference for helping to pass Resolution 16/18 during a gathering in Istanbul. This was the beginning of the “Istanbul Process,” a transnational law initiative that sought to implement measures against speech that perpetuates negative stereotypes of Islam and Muslims, particularly in the West. Clinton took a leading role in the Istanbul Process and made it one of her major foreign policy initiatives.
It was also the Clinton State Department that, in 2012, effectively shut down the National Targeting Center’s Tablighi Jamaat Initiative, which Haney had helped launch. The State Department, together with the DHS’s Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, ordered that intelligence based on religious affiliation be disregarded due to concerns over Muslim civil rights and civil liberties.
This all leads Haney to believe a Hillary Clinton administration would not take the Islamic terror threat seriously enough.
“No, I would say I don’t really believe, based on her past affiliations and policies, that Hillary Clinton would change in the future,” Haney hypothesized. “I suggest that she would emphasize even more these programs to disassociate Islam from terrorism.”
Pamela Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative and a leading anti-jihad voice, agreed a Clinton administration could be even worse than the Obama administration at dealing with Islamic terrorism.
“They would continue the denial and willful ignorance that deforms Obama administration policy now,” said Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America.” “Clinton is likely to be even worse than Obama because she is financially beholden to terror sponsors such as Saudi Arabia.”
Haney feels Podesta’s attitude toward terrorism undermines the diligent work Haney and his fellow counterterrorism officials have done over the years. The former officer said the attitudes of policymakers always carry implications for the law enforcement community.
“Law enforcement officers are either directly ordered not to focus on Islamic groups or individuals, or it’s more subtle, where the implication is that if you do, your career may suffer what we call adverse action,” Haney revealed.
Haney knows this from experience. In 2009, his DHS superiors ordered him to “modify” about 850 records on the Muslim Brotherhood he had entered into DHS’s electronic database. The Obama administration did not wish to investigate Muslim Brotherhood members as terrorists because it relied on the Brotherhood and other Muslim groups with terrorism ties to help craft U.S. counter-terrorism policy.
Three years later, in 2012, the administration erased from the database all 67 of Haney’s records dealing with Muslims associated with the Tablighi Jamaat movement. Then his superiors investigated him for putting that data into the system, which was the job he was supposed to be doing.
“The problems I had during my active duty career weren’t for insubordination or failure to follow orders or any of those kind of things,” Haney recalled. “They were for the fact that I kept focusing on Islamic individuals and groups and tried to tie it in together to show that there were networks operating in the United States tied to global-level networks that posed a threat, and the administration continued to insist that I was basically biased and unfounded in my concerns.”
Haney hopes the next administration will realize what he has been saying for years: Islamic jihad is only a tactic, not an end goal. The goal of the global Islamic movement is the implementation of Shariah law over the entire planet, including North America. He believes if American leaders understand this, it will help them counter the Islamic terror threat more successfully.
“Until they come to the point where they acknowledge that the global Islamic movement’s goal is the implementation of Shariah, then we will keep seeing the same kinds of attacks happen over and over, both here in America and in other places around the world,” Haney said.
