Muslims everywhere must help fund Syrian refugees on their “hijra” (journey) to the West, and the only way to prevent another refugee crisis like what’s happened in Syria is to build a worldwide Islamic caliphate, says a Canadian imam.

Mazin Abdul-Adhim said in a fiery sermon recorded on YouTube that the Western powers have caused all of the bloodshed in the Middle East and will not relent in their assault against the worldwide “ummah,” or global Islamic community until the Khilafa or caliphate is implemented.

“The problem is that we don’t understand our own system — the Khilafa (caliphate). And therefore, how do we support the people of Syria? We must send money and help the refugees that are coming here in every way that we can,” he said in addressing an Islamic conference in Hamilton, Ontario, titled “The Truth Behind the Syrian Refugee Crisis.”

“So we are calling, as an ummah, the people of Syria and everywhere around the world, we as an ummah are calling for the best system that exists on earth from the designer of the universe,” said Abdul-Adhim, a well-spoken imam dressed in Western clothes who is a native of Iraq now living and preaching in London, Ontario, about an hour’s drive from the U.S. border with Michigan.

Abdul-Adhim has an active YouTube channel with nearly 900 subscribers. He also has 1,819 followers on his Facebook page, where he recently posted a link to a video denying the Holocaust ever took place.

The “best system,” according to Abdul-Adhim, is Shariah.

“Anybody who studies the system of Islam,” he said, will recognize that Shariah is a vastly superior system than any other in the world, whether it be capitalism, communism or socialism.

“Helping Syrian refugees coming to Canada and building an Islamic caliphate are part of the same cause, according to a pro-Shariah speaker at an Islamic conference in Hamilton,” the Toronto Sun reported on the event in January.

Mohawk College, which owns the property where the imam’s event took place, said the group isn’t welcome back.

Abdul-Adhim presented his case while standing beside the flag and banner of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a global organization that promotes the unification of all Muslim countries as one caliphate.

“It brings justice to the world. And you compare this to what the colonialists are constantly trying to push on us,” he continued. “Look at what they have. They have how many single mothers?”

He derided those Westerners who criticize Muslim women for wearing the hijab or female head covering.

“So they talk about hijab. How are their women treated in society other than an object to be looked at, and to be used and abused?” Abdul-Adhim asked. “Look at the alcohol. The amount of alcohol that is being drunk. … Is this what we want to bring to Islamic lands? The depression. Right now 80 people own as much wealth as 3.5 billion on earth. Is this the economy we want? Would anybody in their right mind, Muslim or non-Muslim, want this system to replace a significantly superior system?”

He then continued his diatribe against “colonial powers” and how they killed half-a-million children in Iraq, destroyed Iraq and Afghanistan and now are destroying Syria.

“Name it. Name one place they didn’t turn into a prostitution center,” he told his audience.

He explained how the Islamic doctrine of hijra, or “migration,” could cure the West of all these ills.

While calling for the full implementation of a global caliphate, the Canadian imam said ISIS was not the legitimate caliphate he envisioned. Rather, he sees the legitimate caliphate spreading through ideas. His beef with ISIS seemed to boil down to tactics, not its strategic goal of an entire globe under the control of Islamic law.

Establishing the caliphate through migration

“We must recognize one very important point. Muhammad established the first authority for Islam in Medina. Everyone knows this,” Abdul Adhim said. “And the hijra, we talk about the hijra as being some spiritual journey or moving from oppression to justice. It was the symbol of the establishment of the political authority of Islam.”

Muhammad went from “having no political authority to being a ruler,” thanks to his migration to Medina, he said. “From having no army to having established the military protection for Islam. That’s what the hijra is. But how did he achieve it? He achieved it by spreading ideas.”

These ideas can be spread peacefully through civilization jihad, as described in the Muslim Brotherhood’s “Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Brotherhood in North America,” a document captured by the FBI in 2004 in a raid on a safe house in northern Virginia. That document explains how the Brotherhood intends to infiltrate and destroy the U.S. from within using liberal immigration laws and the country’s own tradition of tolerance and civil rights.

Muhammad spent two years teaching Islamic ideas to the people of Medina, Abdul-Adhim said.

“It’s a major component. One of the last steps in how to establish a (Islamic) state, and it’s established by spreading ideas,” he said. “If the ummah understands what is required of us as Muslims, what does a caliphate look like? What a system of Islam looks like, and how to re-establish caliphate, according to the method of (Muhammad), the ummah will rise up and know exactly what we have to do.

“That’s the cause of the whole problem,” he continued. “It’s a lack of understanding. It’s not a lack of military power, we have more military power than anyone else in the whole world. It’s not a lack of resources or wealth, we have the youngest and strongest demographic in the world. That’s not our problem. The problem is we don’t understand our own system, the caliphate. And therefore how do we help the people of Syria?”

“We must send money and help the refugees in every area that we can,” Abdul-Adhim said. “We need to assure this doesn’t happen again. And we need to re-establish our shield, the caliphate. And without it we will forever remain in a state of confusion on what we are supposed to do. Only one solution to this problem and one cause, and that is the absence of caliphate.”

He said the imam is a shield and Muslim people fight from behind the imam.

The West has caused a “fitna,” he said, and must be confronted.

A fitna in Islam is when a non-Muslim tries to cause a division or civil strife within the Muslim world. They are to be resisted with all the might of the ummah.
