BETWEEN THE LINES
FREAK-OUT OVER TRUMP'S POLITICAL INCORRECTNESS
Exclusive: Joseph Farah reveals why he finds 2016 so exciting
They’re freaking out over Donald Trump’s continued political incorrectness – from the Daily Beast to Think Progress to People for the un-American Way.
What’s bugging the left?
- That Donald Trump had the audacity to thank WND for the “amazing honor” of being named 2015 Man of the Year by WND.
- And that Matt Drudge would link to a scientifically conducted WND poll showing Trump winning a large percentage of minority votes.
Here’s a snippet of the hysteria from People for the un-American Way’s Right-Wing Watch: “Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump took to Facebook on Thursday morning to thank a right-wing conspiracy website for the ‘amazing honor’ of naming him its Man of the Year. Trump told the publication, WorldNetDaily, that he ‘very much’ appreciates its ‘informative polls and coverage.’”
The well-funded “progressive” site then went on to disparage WND and me with a slew of lies:
- From them: “WorldNetDaily’s founder and editor Joseph Farah is one of the nation’s leading purveyors of birther conspiracy theories – the repeatedly debunked notion that President Barack Obama was born in Kenya – publishing more than 600 posts on the topic.” From me: Not once have I ever written or said that Obama was born in Kenya. WND has never reported that. What WND has done is investigate Obama’s constitutional eligibility for the presidency. I can say with 100 percent certainty that we have spent more resources doing this than the rest of the media combined. WND did not make accusations. It did not spin conspiracy yarns. It did not draw conclusions about his birthplace.
- From them: “But Farah’s and WND’s conspiracy theories do not end with the president’s birthplace. In a 2011 column, he accused Muslims of promoting a ‘homosexual agenda’ to help destroy America.” From me: Not so. My column questioned why more Muslim groups were not protesting same-sex marriage. I suggested that it might be because of what Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and other observers said was inevitable with the acceptance and institution of same-sex marriage – the acceptance and institution of polygamy. That is a far cry from suggesting Muslims were “promoting” a “homosexual agenda” to destroy America.
I could go on and on refuting the absurd attacks these partisan, biased and sometimes hateful groups perpetrate on Trump, Drudge and WND.
For me and WND, it’s been going on for 18 years. It would be a full-time job simply setting the record straight. But that’s not what we’re about. We’re about reporting news others don’t.
One of the best developments of the 2016 presidential campaign has been the willingness of several candidates – especially Trump, Ted Cruz and Dr. Ben Carson – to attack the politically correct mindset of the major media and the so-called “progressive” establishment.
It’s been a liberating experience for many of us who have defied them for so many years and paid a price for the smears we’ve endured.
Just last week, I realized the continuing effect of these lies. I was invited into a private Facebook discussion between my 1972 high-school graduating class. Someone had posted a similar attack on my character from the Southern Poverty Law Center – one of dozens and dozens over the last 18 years.
One lady assumed everything published by this bona-fide hate racket was true. She challenged me to refute the accusations. I took on one or two of the most absurd accusations and explained what SPLC is all about. Her response? “Oh, so another conspiracy theory …”
I realized I didn’t have enough time to get her thinking more clearly. No one in my position could. For her, it was right there in black and white – it must be true!
But here’s why I find 2016 so exciting.
Political correctness is on the defensive. That’s where this desperation on the purveyors of PC comes from. That’s why they are hysterical – and borderline apoplectic.
Oh, it’s going to be a fun year …
