FRANKLIN GRAHAM TO ROBERT GATES: 'SHAME ON YOU'

Faith leader decries Boy Scouts leader for pro-'gay' view

Rev. Franklin Graham took to his Facebook page to rebuke Robert Gates’ recent pro-”gay” stance on Boy Scouts’ leadership roles, saying the president of the decades-old organization ought to have stood on stronger ground.

Gates, the national president of the Boy Scouts of America, just declared the organization’s ban on homosexuals serving openly as troop leaders “cannot be sustained,” as WND previously reported.

Graham, on Facebook, responded: “Robert Gates, shame on you for not having the moral courage to do what is right. Yesterday Gates … called for an end to the group’s ban on gay troop leaders. What are you thinking?”

Graham then said “we shouldn’t shift as the winds of cultural change blow through our society,” but rather “stand for God’s truth and things that are morally right.”

He also said the pressure to overturn the BSA’s longstanding ban is purely political, driven by special interests.

“This move is bending to LGBT activist groups and would put young, innocent boys at risk,” Graham wrote. “I encourage every former Boy Scout and every parent involved in the Boy Scouts to let Robert Gates know how displeased you are and that if he leads the organization down this road, they may lose your support, your participation – and your sons.”

Graham’s not the only one reacting to Gates’ announcement with scathing criticism.

Paul Kengor, a professor of political science and author of “Takedown: From Communists to Progressives, How the Left Has Sabotaged Family and Marriage,” told WND in an interview the new open-door policy to “gays” would violate the oath scouts and troop leaders take, which is “about obeying God and being physically and morally straight and strong.”
