BETWEEN THE LINES
N.Y. TIMES: FORCE CHRISTIANS TO REDEFINE SIN
Exclusive: Joseph Farah spotlights columnist's redefinition of 'tolerance'
The definition of “tolerance” sure is changing quickly.
My dictionary still has this to say about it: “a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, beliefs, practices, racial or ethnic origins, etc., differ from one’s own; freedom from bigotry.”
That’s the definition I live by. When I disagree with the opinions and views of others, I make my case – sometimes passionately. But I would never advocate threat, force or coercion against those with whom I disagree.
That’s apparently not the standard at the New York Times – and certainly not for columnist Frank Bruni.
I urge you to read his April 3 column carefully and evaluate it for what it represents – the new definition of “tolerance” among so-called “progressives.” Don’t skim it. Read every potent word – all the way to the end.
What he says is shocking – it’s time to force Christians to redefine “sin” by specifically eliminating the Bible’s warnings against homosexual conduct as legitimate, acceptable beliefs.
In other words, you can believe anything you want, you can practice any lifestyle you like, you can live your own life according to your own standards, except if those beliefs, lifestyles and behaviors are based on clearly enunciated, unambiguous biblical precepts.
Do I exaggerate? Am I putting words in his mouth? You decide for yourself.
Bruni cites two people he thinks we can learn from – Jimmy Creech, a former United Methodist pastor who was removed from ministry in the church after he performed a same-sex marriage ceremony, and Mitchell Gold, whom he describes as “a prominent furniture maker and gay philanthropist [who] founded an advocacy group, Faith in America, which aims to mitigate the damage done to LGBT people by what it calls ‘religion-based bigotry.’”
“Gold told me that church leaders must be made ‘to take homosexuality off the sin list,’” Bruni writes. Note the word “made” – which, in context, is clearly a synonym for “forced.”
Bruni concludes his column like this: “His commandment is worthy – and warranted. All of us, no matter our religious traditions, should know better than to tell gay people that they’re an offense. And that’s precisely what the florists and bakers who want to turn them away are saying to them.”
Bruni emphasizes in his conclusion that removing homosexuality from the sin list should now be considered a “commandment,” presumably with threat of force behind it.
This is clearly where the “progressive” redefinition of “tolerance” is heading. It wasn’t enough for them to redefine marriage. Now, in the newspeak of progressivism, “tolerance” literally means “intolerance.” It means think and act like us or else.
To make this proclamation even sound reasonable, of course, you must also redefine and demonize those with whom you disagree. Bruni does this by suggesting that to biblical Christians, “gay people” are “an offense.” Never mind that that is not a biblical or Christian position. In the spirit of Saul Alinksy, the high prophet of secular progressivism, one must “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” That’s what’s going on here – and the target is Bible-based Christianity – make no mistake about it.
Keep in mind, Bruni is not at the vanguard of the cultural and sexual revolution that is turning upside-down the 6,000-year-old values that formed the basis of Western civilization. He doesn’t represent the head of this rabid dog. He and the New York Times represent the tail.
That’s how far America has come in such a short time.
Remember, in 2008 – seven years ago – neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton would dare to speak in favor of same-sex marriage. They both officially, verbally, on the record, opposed it. In that short period of time, this movement – moving at political light speed – is now proclaiming no person may have any legitimate reason, including religion, to oppose it. Everyone must be forced to embrace it, even participate in it if asked.
Amazing.
Brace yourself for rough times ahead.

The godless, Socialist, Secular Humanists are Ruthless and Relentless disciples of Satan. Preparing the way for the son of Satan, the Beast of Revelation, the Antichrist. Scripture tells us that the Whole World receives his "mark" and worships him. (Revelation 13)
