Egyptian President, Government And Media Expressing Outrage At Obama Invitation Of Terrorist Muslim Brotherhood
The late January meeting with members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood was supposed to be a secret. Some people can’t keep their mouths shut. Even worse, some resist the urge to post pictures of themselves inside the State Department on social media.
The Egyptians and the Saudis discovered that their arch terror enemies were being hosted by what is at best a most unreliable ally in the White House, they were none too pleased.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki initially tried the dependable “it wasn’t our fault” defense that is an Obama staple, pointing the finger of blame at Georgetown University, saying they were responsible for arranging the meeting, a claim which she soon retracted as being totally untrue.
Not only did members of the terrorist organization meet with their comrades within the Obama State Department, they also mixed it up with some unnamed members of Congress as well as academics.
More outrageous than the fact that they were allowed into the State Department, is the purpose of their visit; to enlist support for their opposition campaign against Egyptian President el-Sisi, one of the most reasonable and pro-American leaders in the Middle East.
Since the Obama regime was instrumental in the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Egypt before they were overthrown by el-Sisi and he has supported them in the months since, it is no surprise that he’s working secretly with them to undermine the Egyptian government. Just as he is now demonstrating now with Israel, if you are a pro-American government, you are a persona non grata with this current terrorist-friendly White House.
In the days immediately after the meeting, on January 31st, a major terrorist attack was launched in Al-Arish, killing 31 people. The Egyptian government and press view the United States as having influenced the perpetrators and of possibly having some involvement.
After learning of the meeting, the Egyptian President described the Muslim Brotherhood as “the world’s most dangerous secret terrorist organization” and that it “has clandestine wings and secret ideas and tools… which is why Egyptians rose up against it…”[8]
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry was not appreciative of the glossing over by the United States State Department’s, saying, “I do not understand [the State Department’s] claims. We do not understand the existence of such ties with elements that are involved in terrorist activists meant to terrify Egyptians. The MB movement is not a political party.
Egyptian law – which should be respected, just as we respect the laws of others – defines it as a terrorist organization, based on evidence and testimony we have that indicates their involvement in terrorist actions meant to harm the lives of Egyptians, terrorize them, and threaten their security.”
He added, “If we wanted to bury our heads in the sand so as not to face reality, that would be another matter. But we see very well, terrorism is not just ISIS or Boko Haram, but rather all terrorist groups, regardless of what name they use, since they [all] champion the same ideology and the same ideas leading to death and destruction.
‘Al-Ahram’ Editor encouraged Egypt to boycott the current “terrorism summit” in DC in protest. The editor, Muhammad ‘Abd Al-Hadi ‘Allam, accused Obama of being two-faced and not serious about fighting terror. He added, “It seems that the American administration wants a meaningless ‘public relations summit’ that does not [really] strive for clear resolutions on dealing with extremist organizations, chiefly the MB.
He also pointed out the summit hypocrisy, asking, “Did you not consider the fact that you cannot organize a summit attended by the same very elements that are part of the problem… such as Qatar… and the Turkish government?
He added, “Future generations will see the U.S. as the only country that stood by extremism and terrorism to the end, instead of changing its choices and recognizing that the peoples are entitled to life and to modern states that ensure everyone’s rights without discrimination and which remove the dust of ignorance, hatred and sectarianism.
The outrage was not limited to Egypt. An article appeared in the February 3, 2015 editorial page of the Saudi Al-Watan daily, titled “America and the MB – The Mistake Is Repeating Itself, which echoed the prevailing Egyptian positions and said, “History proves that peoples always emerge victorious in their campaigns against the forces of darkness and destruction.
Furthermore, all political Islam movements must realize that every crime they commit or to which they are an accessory increases the popular opposition to them. They must understand that the world’s confidence in Egypt’s trends and policy will not be harmed, and that their desperate attempts to disrupt the [mid-March 2015] economic summit [in Sharm Al-Sheikh that Al-Sisi is organizing] will not succeed.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia are finding common ground and a desire to defeat this enemy. Hussein Obama is still looking for his spine.
