For most people, Friday is the busiest day of the week. A last-minute push to the weekend might not have left you with a lot of "downtime" to read yesterday's RUN update. That's why I'm sending it again today. The attached email contains another shocking example of ISIS violence against Christians and other religious minorities in northern Iraq.
Our teams of volunteers continue to work tirelessly to care for and protect more than 25,000 Iraqi men, women and children forced from their homes by the brutal terror group. This weekend, our leaders in the region are receiving special training for trauma and crisis counseling. I'll have more information about that on Monday. Until then, please see below.

Earlier this week, I told you how ISIS was increasing their terror in northern Iraq by upping their evil. Today, I want to share a heartbreaking letter I received from one of their victims. It serves as a shocking example of the horror that Christians and other religious minorities still face at the hands of the brutal terror group:
Dear Eric,
After the ISIS terrorists attacked our village almost everyone was killed. Somehow my wife and I survived and were taken on a four-hour drive to a place in the mountains. We were treated like animals, and all the families around us were being separated. When they came to us, we refused and tried to resist. Finally, they took our names and sent us away.
The next day, more than 100 men were waiting for us with stones in their hands. They pushed us and yelled at us saying that we have broken Sharia law and must be stoned. Then one of the leaders stepped forward and said, “We will give you a chance, at our signal you both will run and if you outrun our stones then you will live, but if you can not then we will kill you."
My wife and I started crying and asking God to forgive us when they started yelling, "Allahu Akbar!" So, we turned and ran, but my wife was weak and ill, and I could hear her screaming.

ISIS terrorists stoned the woman to death and chased her husband into the mountains. A team of RUN volunteers found her lifeless body and buried her, then they located and rescued her injured husband. He closed his letter with:
Now, I am safe and so grateful to have escaped this evil. I believe God has rescued me. Thank you.

One final note: Medical care continues to be a huge need for these refugees. Recently, 258 people received regular medical attention for dehydration, diarrhea, flu, cuts and other "regular" illnesses. Another 74 were treated for major war-related injuries.
Fighting has closed many medical offices, clinics and hospitals in the region, but fortunately, our teams have found courageous people willing to provide us with medical supplies. But we must raise funds immediately for 800 additional patients awaiting our care.
