2 TEACHERS ARRESTED FOR 'SEX WITH SAME BOY'

Both worked at high school where victim attended classes

Two Louisiana teachers have been arrested after a student reportedly boasted of having sex with them.

According to the St. Charles Herald Guide, Shelley Dufresne, 33, a married mother of three, was arrested earlier this week and then released on $200,000 bond with conditions.

She was in her 10th year of teaching at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, La., after graduating from Louisiana State University, officials said.

Fox News reported the second teacher, 24-year-old Rachel Respess of Kenner, later surrendered to authorities.

Sheriff’s deputies in St. Charles Parish said a victim, 16 at the time but 17 now, reportedly “bragged to other students about having sex with two teachers.”

School board member Al Suffrin was troubled.

“It gives the district a black eye. It is obviously something we don’t like to see happen because it is a distraction. It gets in the way of what our core business is. We don’t like to see this sort of thing happen,” he told the Guide.

WGNO-TV in New Orleans reported Dufresne’s bond was $200,000 with the conditions that she be under house arrest, allowed to leave her residence only for mental health treatments, doctor’s appointments and church.

The report said Kenner police also are working on the case, because some of the “sexual encounters” happened at the home of the second teacher, in Kenner.

Bond information for Respess wasn’t available immediately.

Reports said some of the encounters also were videotaped.

Respess, a Destrehan High graduate, was in her second year of teaching there.

Parents of Destrehan High School students were upset.

“Anytime anyone is put into a position of authority, it’s a responsibility as a human being not to abuse that authority, and so I think it’s pretty sad,” said parent Antonio Morales. “I don’t know the circumstances. I don’t know if there’s some kind of mental illness there. I know if it was my child, I would pursue charges in a heartbeat.”

According to WGNO, the alleged activity has been the topic of conversation on campus since early last week.

“Talking about how it happened and how people found out and what was going to happen to them,” student Brandon Wild told the station. “Some people believe it. I honestly don’t really believe it, but some people do.”

Wild is a junior who takes a class from one of the accused instructors.

“She’s a cool teacher. Her class is pretty fun,” he told WGNO. “If it’s not true, then I feel bad for her. I hope nothing really happens to her. I hope she continues teaching.”

“It’s not good. It’s not policy. It’s against everything I believe in,” said parent Tranae Payton.

“I don’t understand; they’re supposed to be teaching, not, not doing those types of things with children. I mean, they’re students and they’re young adults, but they’re not adults. They’re children.”
