Friday afternoon:
Today, RUN Ministries president Eric Watt sent me another letter from an Iraqi targeted by the ISIS terror group. Karim is a husband and father, who was born and raised in northwestern Iraq. But now, he's a refugee:
Our village was destroyed by the Islamic groups, and my house was destroyed. My wife got bad injuries, and we became homeless.
Karim and his family were held captive by ISIS for a week. Thankfully, they survived, but the terrorists released them with nowhere to go:
Life was very difficult without water and food. We escaped to the mountains, but after walking for two days, my small children and my wife could not continue. We were so weak without food and water that we had only one choice: waiting for death.
That same night, I heard sounds and I thought, Now animals are coming, and they will kill us. My wife said, "Close your eyes." So we closed our eyes and prepared to die. After a few seconds, a man spoke and said, "We want to help you."
I was amazed to see people who came with water and food and rescued us from death. They brought us to the “Community of Hope" refugee camps.

But with more than 5,000 men, women and children still waiting for their "Community of Hope" to be built, this rescue and relief effort is far from over. Eric Watt said yesterday that 200 to 300 new people arrive every day seeking food, water, shelter and protection.

I want to pray and thank the Christian brothers and sisters who supported us to have these refugee camps. I'm alive today with my family because of you. Thank you. God bless you all. --Karim
