Astonishing New Invention From Israel: Paint That Cools Your House With No Electric Bill

As usual, Israelis, the same people whose list of innovations is astonishing for a country of its size and population, have brought another unique invention to the world: a high-tech paint that utilizes the sun’s power to activate a cooling mechanism, thus giving buildings air conditioning without electricity.

The product is called SolCold. The remarkable paint reacts to heat this way: the hotter the solar radiation the more the coating cools down. The paint will undergo trials within the next two years; SolCold cofounder Gadi Grottas told ISRAEL21c that SolCold has received hundreds of inquiries from around the world, including Africa, Australia, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Philippines, Turkey and the United States.

Electrical engineer Yaron Shenhav, the cofounder and CEO of SolCold, invented the “anti-stokes fluorescence” technology. Grottas is confident that the product will not be copied. He stated:

We are not afraid someone will copy us because the technology is very complicated and not familiar to too many people. We gathered a unique combination of knowledge in the worlds of thermodynamics, nanotechnology and quantum physics and have been working on it for the past four years. We have also registered a PCT patent, which is pending before being published.

Grottas said the materials used in the coating are 100% “green” and free of carbon emissions. As Israel21c reports, “When tested in a lab using a sun simulator, SolCold’s double-layered coating cooled an object by 1.2 degrees Celsius (2.2 degrees Fahrenheit) using the equivalent of only 1% of the sun’s energy.”

Grottas asserted, “The paint could decrease electricity consumption by up to 60 percent and is expected to last for 10 to 15 years before needing a new coat.”
