I May Be Homeless
Ken Ebright
“The angels will throw them into the blazing furnace, where the people will cry and grind their teeth with pain. Then the good people will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let those with ears use them and listen.” Matthew 13:42-43 (NCV)
One of my greatest fears is I will become homeless someday because of my learning disabilities and financial mistakes. It scared me one night when I drove down a street and saw a man sleeping on a metal grate on a sub-zero night. Then there was the time I saw a homeless mom and dad with two small children spending the night at a twenty-four-hour Laundromat.
Despite my difficulties, I am blessed that I found the Lord as a child. There are people with a six-figure income who feel they do not need the Lord. They don’t realize their material wealth won't help them in heaven. Meanwhile, I may lose the roof over my head, but I know I will have a home in heaven.
I would rather be homeless on earth versus homeless and apart from my heavenly Father. On this earth, it’s possible to fix the homeless problem.
If you die without having Jesus in your heart, you will be out of luck, cast into the lake of fire. Once you are in the pit, there will be no way to remedy the fact that you are separated from your heavenly home.
The thing to do is to ask Jesus into your heart today. You will never know when death might call you.
