Rev. Graham: Banning Jesus' Name in Public Schools is Foolish -- Every Knee Shall Bend at His Name
Rev. Franklin Graham. (BGEA)
Commenting on a proposal being pushed in Queensland, Australia to ban the name of Jesus Christ from all public schools there -- even on Christmas cards -- Rev. Franklin Graham said it was shameful and would not erase the fact that Jesus is the Son of God and that eventually every knee shall bow at His name.
In an Aug. 4 Facebook post, Rev. Graham said, "Banning the name above all names? The state of Queensland, Australia, is recommending a policy that would ban any references to Jesus -- including Christmas cards -- from public schools. That’s a shame isn’t it?"
"According to the Department of Education, they’re afraid 'non-religious children' might feel forced to consider the Christian beliefs of their friends," said Graham.
"Secularism may seem to be winning in many parts of the world," he said. "But banning Jesus’ name won’t change the fact that He is the Son of God and one day every person will have to confess it."
Graham continued, "The Bible says,
'Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in Heaven and on Earth and under the Earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:9-11).
"Pray for the churches of Australia to stand strong and that this measure will fail," said Rev. Graham.
Franklin Graham is the sone of world-renowned preacher Billy Graham. Franklin Graham over sees the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) and the international Christian relief group Samaritan's Purse.
