Shapiro on Levin About Trump’s Korea Comments: Media’s ‘Sole Goal’ Is to Make Trump Seem ‘Insane’
Filling in on Mark Levin’s nationally syndicated radio talk show Thursday, temporary host and Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro called out the media, saying their “agenda,” their “sole goal” in asking President Trump about North Korea, is to make Trump seem “insane.”
“So, today, Trump comes out, and he’s asked again about North Korea, and understand that the media’s agenda here is not to actually get Trump’s opinion on what’s going to happen in North Korea,” stated Ben Shapiro.
“Their goal here is to make it seem like Donald Trump is insane. That is their sole goal in life.”
Ben Shapiro’s remarks come after President Trump responded to questions concerning North Korea’s threats, saying North Korea “will be met with fire, fury, and frankly, power – the likes of which this world has never seen before” should they continue to threaten the United States.
Shapiro: “So, the media are making it out like President Trump is completely out of control with regard to North Korea.
“I don’t see this, at all. I don’t see this, at all.
All I see is that President Trump seems to be well in command of his faculties with regard to North Korea.
I don’t see him doing anything particularly wrong.
“I see media that is attached to the notion that Trump is a nutcase that’s going to get us into nuclear war.
“Now, this is nothing new.
The media have been trying to portray every Republican president, certainly in my lifetime and well before, as a warmonger who wants to start a nuclear war.
They said this about Ronald Reagan. They said this about George W. Bush, and they say this now about Donald Trump.
“But the fact is that Donald Trump’s language is not indicative of his actual policy.
I mean, if we’ve learned nothing about President Trump at this point, we have learned that President Trump likes to use inflammatory language. Is that fair? Is that fair?
“He says things that are superlative. Everything is superlative with President Trump.
“So, a couple of days ago, President Trump talking about the fact that the North Koreans have now come up with – the CIA has now confirmed – they’ve come up with this, this small nuclear warhead or at least a nuclear mini device that can be fit inside a warhead that can be stacked on top of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles and therefore, hit the United States, theoretically.
And President Trump responds this way a couple of days ago. You’ve heard all about it, the ‘fire and the fury.’”
