Yes, but I would like to add that when we pray, we can’t make it a “to do” list for God and we shouldn’t spend all of our time praying asking for things, for help, etc.
Of course we are going to pray for people’s needs and situations, but that’s only a small part of it.
We need to go before the throne of grace repenting of our sins and asking for forgiveness and making sure that we are not harboring any unforgiveness towards anyone so that our prayers will be heard just as the Bible speaks of.
We need to spend time thanking the Lord, being grateful, recognizing how amazing He is, glorifying Him, having complete gratitude for all of the things he’s done in our lives, thanking him and all things — even the difficult times, thanking Him for saving us and calling us to be His children, thanking Him for His amazing mercy and grace, we should be glorifying Him for how wonderful He is because He is God and not for what he does for us.
We should tell him how much we love and adore Him, and spend time in His glorious presence.
And something that Christians often forget to do is that after we pour out our hearts to the Lord, we need to stop talking and listen because it’s a two-way relationship that we have with Him and often He wants to speak to us, but we’re too busy talking to hear His voice.
Prayers should stop being a monologue because it’s meant to be a dialogue. There are times that we are seeking answers, but that requires listening.
Prayer should be an intimate time with the Lord where we express our deep love and gratitude to Him…and in a loving relationship not just one person does all of the talking.
We would receive a lot more answers if we would endeavor to listen to His voice.
It is the polite thing to do when you love someone, especially when it is our our Lord and King, the God of the universe.
Praise His holy name!
