Title: The dog and the pig in us: Overcoming our carnal nature.
Text : 2Peter 2:22
"The dog turn back to his own vomits and a pig that is washed return to its mire but a person who is washed and then returns to his sins is worse than before."
Just like dogs and pigs, we humans can exhibit some undesirable traits, but God offers us transformation.
Let us dig deep about this:
2. Gluttony: pigs and dogs overeat, just like we can indulge excesses(proverbs 23:20-21)
3. Filthness: pigs roll in filth, just like we can wallow in sinful thoughts and behaviors (Ephesians 4:22-24).
4. Stubbornness: pigs are Stubborn, just like we can resist God's wil l(Psalms 81:11-12).
5. Carnal nature: pigs live by instinct, just like we can we can be controlled by our fleshly desires (Romans 8:5-8).
But God offers us transformation through:
1. Washing: We are washed clean through Jesus' blood (1John 1:7)
2. Renewal: We are made new through the Holy Spirit ( Titus 3:5-7)
3.Discipline: We are disciplined by God to correct our ways (Hebrew 12:5-11)
Ladies and gentlemen, as we reflect on the dog and pigs nature, let us:
●Recognise our carnal tendencies (Romans7:14-25)
●Seek God's transformation and renewal (2Corinthians 5:17)
●Cooperate with God's discipline ( Hebrews 12:1-3)
●Live by the spirit not by the flesh( Galatians 5:16-26)
As I conclude, I pray that God gives us strength to overcome our dog, and pig-like tendencies and we reflect God's glory.
Much love for you dear brothers and sisters in the Family of God.
