“Beloved, you are faithful in all you do.” 3 John 1:5 NAB
John admired the faithfulness of the new believers he wrote to - We, too, should aspire to be faithful in all we do.
The word faithful is imbued with varied meanings.
In a secular sense, to be faithful means to be loyal, responsible, dependable, and conscientious.
We want to be known as faithful in this sense—a faithful spouse, parent, friend, worker, etc.
Faithful, in its spiritual meaning, is quite obvious: full of faith.
It is born from within and should overflow into our daily lives.
We can do things faithfully by infusing our faith into the everyday things we do, from the menial tasks to the larger undertakings.
Consider combining exercise or walking with prayer.
Listen or sing along to praise music while tending to laundry, lawn care, or gardening.
Could you listen to a spiritual podcast on the drive to work or picking up your children at school?
Read the Word in waiting times?
Write a faith-filled note of encouragement to a friend while the soup is cooking?
We must be intentional about filling our lives with faith.
The enemy wants to fill that void with nefarious things.
Be on guard—be faithful.
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much.”
(Luke 16:10)
The practice of faithfulness in little things trains us to be prepared for the faith we need for bigger things.
We should always be in training.
Plan your workouts. Make your life faith full.
The Word is laden with the rewards for being faithful: A faithful man will abound with blessings.” (Proverbs 28:20)
“The Lord preserves the faithful.” (Psalm 31:23)
Lord, I long to be both faith-full on the inside, and to live a faith-full life in all I do. Amen.
