“I was made a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the working of his power.”
(Ephesians 3:7 CSB)
What better occupation, what more glorious employment than the one the Lord assigned to the Apostle Paul and to all who’ve been made ‘servants of the gospel’.
No need to wonder any more what we’re here for, or to ponder the meaning of life.
Followers of Jesus know!
As servants of the gospel, like Paul we’re here to “proclaim the incalculable riches of Christ…” (cf. Ephesians 3:8 CSB).
God has gifted every believer in some capacity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to proclaim His glory.
Are you using the ‘gift of grace’ God has gifted to you?
It may involve getting to know Christ better than you have before.
Paul felt the need to pray for the church at Ephesus to get to know Christ better.
In his prayer he prayed, “I pray that he [God] may grant you, according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power in your inner being thorough his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
I pray that you, being rooted and firmly established in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love, and to know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God…” (Ephesians 3:16-19 CSB).
Paul understood there is no better way to come out from under spiritual attack, and no better strategy to be delivered from our own spiritual lethargy, than to be strengthened with power through the Holy Spirit, so that we might know Christ’s love that surpasses knowledge, and be filled with the fullness of God.
