You can face trials with hope. (1 Thess. 4:13).
Jesus secured hope for us by his physical, bodily resurrection from the grave. (1 Peter 1:1-4).
His resurrection is the basis for our hope.
Peter wrote to Christians who scattered through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia because of persecution.
Many of them had fled from Israel under persecution from the Jews. Other persecutions were coming from the Roman government.
In a time of losing their home, leaving relatives, friends, and homeland, they needed hope.
Whom do you turn to for help?
There were no loved ones near.
There were no familiar streets, landmarks, favorite stores, or trusted sources of information, and very few, if any, Christians to meet with or communicate with.
If they had a health problem or a financial problem, there was no one to help.
And now they had to find a job in a very unfriendly environment.
Sometimes, during trials, we focus on what we don’t have.
Sometimes, during trials, we focus on what we don’t have.
Peter reminds them of what they do have.
Count your blessings! God foreknew you.
He set you apart by the Holy Spirit.
You have experienced the cleansing blood of Jesus at your time of salvation.
God extended His grace and peace to you.
You have been begotten (born-again) to a living hope.
You no longer need to fear death, the grave, and an eternity in hell.
That living hope was secured to you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Because He lives, you shall live. (John 14:19).
Many witnesses gave testimony that It was a genuine and physical resurrection.
It secured an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that would not fade away.
Your reservation has been made and paid for.
