GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING

God is Always Working

I was vacationing alone in rural Lycoming County, PA. A breeze cooled the partly sunny, summer day as I parked along one of the many gravel byways to enjoy a hike. 

I followed the road to its end, then decided to “walk around the block.”

However, a “block” in this rural, mountainous country turned out to be more than I’d bargained for. 

I found myself trudging back up the mountain on a road that kept going and going. 

Now I’m not so young anymore and I had no water with me. 

I began to pray, “Lord, please, please help me. 

Forgive me for being so stupid. Please help me.”

I’d been begging God like this for a couple of minutes when an older gentleman approached from the opposite direction on his ATV. 

He drove over to me. 

“You out for some exercise or did you have car trouble?” 

He explained he lived nearby so I felt I could trust him and agreed to a ride back to my car. 

Within ten minutes, I was relaxing at my vacation home, enjoying air-conditioning and a cold drink.

The late Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias wrote the book, The Grand Weaver. 

In it, he talks about how God is in and orchestrates even the smallest events of our lives to help us, teach us, and otherwise serve his purposes for us.

Psalms 145:19 says, 

“[God] grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them” (NLT). 

I believe God had this man ride his ATV in my direction at just the right time to help me. 

Eternity will reveal the many ways in which the Lord directed matters in our lives even when we thought we didn’t see him working.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness in my life, even when I wasn’t aware of it. Amen.
