Americans think God is sending serious message with coronavirus
Are these really the 'last days' predicted in the Bible?
Almost half of the people in the United States believe that the coronavirus pandemic, the deadly virus that first became a problem near Wuhan, China, and since has spanned the globe, is a "wake-up call" from God.
The virus in the United States has infected tens of thousands of people, and killed about 3,000.
But it also has triggered officials to essentially shut down the economy, costing millions of people their jobs and threatening the future of businesses both large and small, at least temporarily.
Now a new poll, the results of which were obtained exclusively by Paul Bedard at the Washington Examiner, reveals some startling opinions.
"Nearly half of the country believes that the sweeping and deadly coronavirus is a 'wake-up call' from God and a third see it as the 'last days' predicted in the Bible, according to a new national survey," he reported.
The results come from a Joshua Fund survey, which found, too, that there is a feeling in the country"that Americans need to embrace faith and return to religion."
He reported 44% said the crisis is a "wake-up call for us to turn back to faith in God" and also "signs of coming judgement."
Joshua Fund, created by best-selling author Joel C. Rosenberg and his wife, Lynn Rosenberg, told Bedard, "Americans in near full lockdown are anxious, and understandably so.
Yet millions are turning to God, the Bible and Christian sermons for answers, some of them for the first time.
That may be the most important silver lining in this crisis so far."
The numbers of the poll come from McLaughlin & Associates, and showed that 29% believe the crisis suggests
"We are living in what the Bible calls the 'last days.'"
The Examiner reported,
"Twenty-two percent of self-identified non-Christian respondents and 40% of Christians said the crisis has resulted in more interest in God and spiritual matters."
Rosenberg told the publication,
"The results are clear: this unprecedented global crisis is causing Americans to start reading the Bible and listen to Bible teaching and Christian sermons online, even though they usually don’t;
search online for teaching on Bible prophecy and God’s future for mankind; and/or engage in more spiritual conversations with family and friends."
