Not only is this the worst moral condition I have seen, it is the worst in American history.
The facts about American youth: never has church attendance been this low—never have so many claimed to be atheists—never have they been this angry with churches—never have we seen such derision and hostility toward the teachings of Christ. Therefore, this is the perfect time for a youth awakening. How can this be?
Reason number one: The hurricane effect. Scientists predict hurricanes by measuring a very unhurricane looking condition—they detect low air pressure over the ocean. In other words, they know violent air is coming because the air is so nonviolent. Nature always rushes to fill a vacuum.
Universities are sowing the seeds of revival by spiritually starving students. They are not creating lifelong atheists…they are creating a vacuum. The push to invalidate the Gospel will not remove the need of the human soul. In fact, suppression of spiritual desires can make those desires overwhelming.
Reason number two: The Saul of Tarsus effect. How can we be near to an awakening when so many of our youth are going to extremes with drugs, violence, and perversion?
Jesus spoke to Saul of Tarsus, “It is hard for you to kick against the goad.” Saul got the message instantly. He knew oxen kick against the sharp stick (goad) used to move them forward. The goad was Saul’s destiny to become the Apostle Paul. Saul was under deep conviction. He knew his time as Saul was ending. That turmoil drove his radical behavior.
Your child may be far from God and acting out great sin and anger, but it could be a sign—they’re on their own road to Damascus. They are reeling with the feeling of a coming act of God.
Reason number three: Satan always overplays his hand. If Lucifer truly wanted to fill hell, you’d think he’d make everyone rich and content. Instead, he grinds people. He makes them miserable and plunges them into despair. He drives his victims to cry out to God for deliverance. Satan’s hatred for mankind derails his tactics.
Reason number four: It’s God’s time. Revivals do not begin in times of enlightened morality and peace. They come when humanity writhes in the depths of depravity. They come to those most cruelly vexed by the culture. The brunt of cultural change always falls on the backs of youth. Psalm 119:126 says, “It is time for you to act oh God for they have regarded your word as void.
I have given you four reasons a youth revival is coming, but now comes the crucial point of my letter to you: WE MUST BE PREPARED! Carrying this inside information is not a blessing—it is an ominous responsibility.
We dare not speak in terms of business as usual. Let me ask you, what should a ministry do if they know that in the coming days perhaps millions of youth will suddenly give in to a divine urge to serve Christ? What would we do with such a miracle? We should prepare.
One of Jesus’ greatest rebukes goes to the heart of this issue. John 4:35 says, “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!”
The correction begins with “do you not say.” He is telling them they are wrong about what they say about the harvest. “It’s 4 months away.” Here’s our version: An American youth revival is either impossible or off in some unknown future.
Next, He ordered them to lift up their eyes. Look past the outward evil. Look beyond the anti-God stage props of the culture. The regular seasons of sowing and reaping have been overruled. Amos 9:13 says, “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And, all the hills shall flow with it.’”
The Modern English Translation says, “You will have such a harvest that you won’t be able to bring in all of your wheat before plowing time. You will have grapes left over from season to season; your fruitful vineyards will cover the mountains.”
Here’s my concluding message to you: DON’T SAY IT! Don’t say we still need more time. Don’t say some things have to change first. Don’t say it can’t happen. Don’t say we can’t afford it!
I refuse to be caught unprepared for the harvest! People close to me wonder about me. Why do I drain our funds every month to buy equipment, train the army, invest in internet technology and furiously expand our reach? Some are offended that I am continually challenging our partners. I don’t care…I know a massive in-gathering is upon us—I refuse to be unprepared!
Jesus commanded them to look to the fields. Church-bound Christians can’t see the fields. Preachers consumed with survival programs can’t see the field.
Mario Murillo Ministries has not only seen the field—now, we live there. You know what we found on the field? We found more souls who want Jesus than we have the resources to harvest. We see the Holy Spirit pouring abundant and startling healings and conviction on young people. In short, we are seeing the unreachable reached.
But I would rather risk suffering personal loss because I reached out than to endure the shame of sleeping through the harvest. Proverbs 10:5 says, “He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.”
IT’S ALL ABOUT SOULS. It’s about starting a youth revolution that will reverse the curse on America. I don’t need to tell you how vicious the God-haters are right now. I don’t need to remind you how extreme the left has gotten and how insane their ideas have become. They are pushing America off a cliff.
Jesus was never vague about the crisis of winning souls. Matthew 9:36 says, “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.’”
