HISTORY COURSE: SPEAKEASIES PROMOTED LGBT TOLERANCE
Schools go all in with politically correct lessons
The San Diego Unified School District has gone all in with politically correct lessons, from teaching the nation’s history “from the perspectives of groups that have been marginalized” to “Gender Grammar” and “Gender Pronouns” listed on bulletin boards along with “LGBTQ student rights,” according to a parent with children in the district.
The district also advises students, “If you are arrested, ask for a lawyer immediately,” and if officers want to search anything say, “I don’t consent to this search.”
Then there’s the contract for tens of thousands of dollars for “consultants” to teach students “an equity-centered, culturally responsive” approach to life.
Students also are instructed to use the subjective-objective-possessive-reflexive pronouns “ze-hir/zir-hirs/zirs-herself/zirself.”
The parent brought the issue to the attention of WND, expressing frustration after receiving no substantive response from the principal, school and superintendent.
The district superintendent, Cindy Marten, declined to respond to a WND request for comment.
The principal informed the parent that history teachers selected a representative of the ACLU to make a presentation at a school-wide assembly.
“So, who is watching the hen house over there?” the parent asked, citing taxpayer funds for agreements with the National Equity Project, the ACLU and others.
“The board member and superintendent directed me back to the principal.
Other schools also had the ACLU presentation, but the district won’t tell me which schools, or even how many schools.”
On its website, the district promises it “is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals in education.
District programs and activities shall be free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying by reason of the following actual or perceived characteristics:
age, ancestry, color, mental or physical disability, ethnicity, ethnic group identification, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, immigration status, marital or parental status, medical condition, nationality, national origin, actual or perceived sex, sexual orientation, race, religion, or on the basis of a person’s association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.”
There was no definition for “actual or perceived sex.”
The concerned parent explained to WND that the history course, the posters, the indoctrination of students by outside groups and more raise concerns.
The “Identity and Agency in U.S. History” course outline states it will examine history through the lens of “groups that have been marginalized due to ethnicity, race, class, gender, and sexual identity.”
The Declaration of Independence and Constitution?
The important facts to know about them are “the impact … on Native Americans, African Americans, and women.”
Students are to “design a tenement building that includes the ethnicity of inhabitants, plans and adheres to building codes of the time.”
They will learn “eugenics and racist and anti-miscegenation laws during the Progressive Era” and study “reformers” such as the ACLU.
They also will learn how the speakeasies of Prohibition “led to an underworld of tolerance for diversity, including for the LGBT population.”
It was a Constitution Day poster that included the instructions to students on what to do if arrested or “stopped by law enforcement, ICE, border patrol.”
“Don’t consent to being searched, and ask for an attorney immediately,” it says.
“Wow,” said the parent, “I have children at the schools, and yes, I’m very concerned.”
She said parents will have no idea what the Identity and Agency course is about.
But their children will learn that “Latinos/as became the largest ethnic group in California in 2010 and that Latino/a children comprise more than 51 percent of public school students.”
They also will study the “election of Barack Obama, Black Lives Matter and other movements of today.”
