5 GENDER-BENDING ANTI-GOD LAWS
Exclusive: Brian Sussman says legislators have purposefully distorted image of Creator
When it comes to sex, the elected officials in my state of California seems to take pride in defying God.
From same-sex marriage to acknowledging counterfeit gender, our progressive political leaders here relish in pushing the envelope of divine morality.
As a result, they see a time-honored verse, recorded by Moses, as a challenge worthy of their legislative wrecking ball:
“So God created humankind in his own image; in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27).
A bit about this succinct sentence, which beautifully describes the beginning of the human race.
The first thing we note in this verse is that God fashioned us, “in his own image.”
In doing so, He set us apart from the animal world, provided us with the keen ability to distinguish good from evil and enabled us to commune with Him.
Secondly, God created two distinct genders: male and female.
This single line has provided countless generations with a foundation that supplies a clear anthropology, an understanding of humanity, and illustrates the hard-wired differences between men and women.
But California’s radicals have been systematically rewriting the truths found in Genesis 1:27.
In 2008, when California voters said “No” to same-sex marriage via Proposition 8, the state’s attorney general, Kamala Harris, declined to defend the ban on same-sex marriage, and the measure was defeated in court. Soon after, California legislators legalized same-sex marriage, no doubt disappointed that Massachusetts had enacted such a law first.
In 2016, the California Legislature concocted a silly bill known as the “Bathroom Law,” which was soon signed by then-Gov. Jerry Brown.
It requires all single-user restrooms in public places be labeled, “Gender Neutral.”
Apparently, the universal men/women marker formerly affixed to such bathrooms was too offensive for some.
Once the toilet signs had been updated, the legislature officially advanced a third gender.
This doozy of a law allows California residents to officially revise the gender and name they were born with in order to align with their desired gender.
In other words, forget what God had (and has) in mind for you.
A man can declare himself a woman, a woman can announce she is a man, and anyone can insist they are neither male or female, but instead are of the gender known as “non-binary.”
These three gender options can now be updated on all state-issued documents such as birth certificates and driver’s licenses.
In the case of the new category, one’s gender is noted as “X.”
Also, in an effort to further tamp down offense, the legislature also demands that the pronouns “he” and “she” be replaced with “they” in all official public hearings.
However, perhaps most disturbing is yet another law that took effect last year, mandating that kids in foster care who have decided they are transgender (boys trapped in a girl’s body, or vice-versa) to have outright access to free medical services to further their transition including hormone therapy and surgery.
Is God good with all of this?
Nope.
Not only do male and female together reflect the image of God, but their coming together in a marriage relationship to bring forth new life is used in the Bible as the deepest and most intimate analogy of God’s relationship with us.
From Genesis to Revelation, God and His people are portrayed as husband and wife, or as a groom and bride.
The account of creation in Genesis lays out this gender-based, matrimonial picture and sets the stage for the final, eternal union of God and His people – the Messiah and His bride – described in Revelation.
God created us male and female, and that matters.
What the legislature in California (and elsewhere) is doing purposefully distorts the image of God and His plan for sexuality, marriage, family and society.
But here’s the really good news.
God is in the redemption business.
He came to earth in the form of a man – Messiah Jesus – in order to die as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
When we embrace His atonement and surrender to His will, God begins to restore us into the man or woman we were born to be.
That redemption is only available by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus as our Savior.
The New Testament scriptures put it this way,
“Therefore, if anyone is united with the Messiah, he is a new creation – the old has passed; look, what has come is fresh and new!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
