WESTERN CIVILIZATION
WHEN REFUGEES DIDN'T RAPE THEIR HOSTS
Exclusive: Barry Farber compares today's Europe to Hungarians fleeing tyranny in '50s
So, the year that began with jihadi refugees raping every female in sight of the famous cathedral in Cologne, Germany, ends with a jihadi hijacking a heavy truck, murdering the driver and deliberately and murderously crashing it into a Christmas market in downtown Berlin. And with literally too much similar tragedy wedged in between.
Can you handle an explosively liberal thought now as liberalism falls to one knee and then keels over?
The easiest political exercise in the book just now is hating Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany, for dynamiting the legal dikes and flooding the land with Islamic refugees. But I don’t hate her. Merkel and today’s generation of German elected officials explain themselves in a way that works for me, at least.
They look at the wreckage of their “Open Borders” policy and the catastrophe it’s brought upon Europe, and then, with lowered voices and humility oozing through their political pores, they explain, “When we were born Germany was the worst country in the world. We’re now trying to become the best country in the world.” The “university” between my ears gives credit for sincere good intentions, while acknowledging that sincerity is still no excuse for stupidity. May God restore His daughter Angela’s political vision and reverse the catastrophe her “goodness” has caused.
If I ask you where you were on Christmases past, you may have to stop and think. I know I would, except for Christmas of 1956. There’s no forgetting that “Hungarian Christmas,” when the tiny nation of Hungary rose up against its Soviet Communist masters and “turned the Iron Curtain into a venetian blind” for 10 glorious, unforgettable days!
Over 35,000 Hungarian civilians were slaughtered by the Communist forces, who lost 2,000 of their own. Hungary was in non-Communist Hungarian hands from Oct. 23, 1956, until Red Army forces overwhelmed the Hungarian Freedom Fighters. More than 200,000 Hungarian refugees stormed for the western borders, which somehow remained miraculously open all the way until Jan. 12 of 1957.
Throughout my entire life as a journalist, nothing before or after Christmas of 1956 had the effect I witnessed on Hungary’s western border with Austria. Those who came as journalists took one look around and put away their notepads and cameras and joined the rescuers lifting babies out of our “Freedom Navy,” a single rubber raft, and carrying them up the ridge into Austria and freedom.
Others took care of the elderly Hungarians seeking freedom. That Hungarian Freedom Fight was a military disaster, but with every Hungarian refugee we pulled out of Hungary and ushered into Austria we felt we’d won a war!
And we journalists stayed aboard the story, long after the story was put aside and retired. I helped Catholic Charities resettle Hungarians in North Carolina.
These refugees, Roman Catholic Hungarians, didn’t rape anybody. Nor did they drive heavy trucks into street fairs crowded with unsuspecting civilian residents.
They became model Americans almost at once. They’d heard of things like “freedom,” but they couldn’t quite believe it. When they were invited to appear on local media they wondered when the “party man” was going to show up and tell them what to say. The closest any Hungarian refugee came to violence was when a highly cultured Hungarian literally could not believe there was no “theater” in Greensboro, North Carolina. I explained we had seven movie theaters, but that didn’t do it for him. He pressed me to explain how I could live in a town with no real “theater.” I knew just enough Hungarian to put him in his place. I explained, “Nincs teater, nincs AVO!” which means, in bad Hungarian, “No theater, no Communist secret police!”
All my “clients” (refugees) became ground-kissing grateful Americans at once. The mere notion of any one of those 200,000 Hungarian refugees doing anything remotely like the routine horrors committed by jihadi killers is, to this volunteer refugee worker, as ludicrous as the pope holding up a 7-Eleven store with a handgun he sneaked out of the arsenal of the Swiss Guards!
Even though I attended public school in North Carolina, where my parents barely felt the school tax, I somehow feel cheated that they taught us a dry-cleaned version of other countries and other cultures.
Even though the real sinister liberalism had not yet flung its poisonous spears into the innocent young bodies of our elementary gradeschoolers, we were taught that “We have our way and they have their way, and blessed be the name of the game.”
Wrong, wrong, wrong!
There is such a thing as Western civilization, and if we don’t get behind it and push hard, there won’t be any more. And all those we love and all that we love will be trashed and lost.
As explained above, I choose to excuse Chancellor Merkel for visiting her Open-Border disaster upon Germany, the most important country in Europe.
OK, Angela gets excused by me.
Prime Minister Robert Fico of Slovakia, however, gets much more than “excused.” He gets praised to the horizon for his comment to the jihadi-minded immigrants, namely: “We will not permit you to destroy the culture of Europe!”

Will the America Church remain ASHAMED of the Words of Christ Jesus, and refuse to call Islam a False and Evil Religion--A Religion that claims to have another "god."?--Will the American Church continue to allow this Blatant BLASPHEMY!
