President Obama has told enough whoppers to have a Burger King sandwich named after him.
But this week's fiction on his signature health care law makes Pinocchio look honest.
Yesterday, to a group of Americans who've probably had their premiums rise an average of 25 percent because of Obamacare's failure, the president insisted, "None of what [Republicans] said has happened."
Mark Hemingway of the Weekly Standard is just one of the astounded ones. "Now, in case you've been in a coma the past six years, Republicans said at the time of its passage that Obamacare would become the Hindenberg of public policy. And mostly, they've been right."
From "If you like your plan you can keep it," to Obamacare won't add "one dime to the deficit," the pile of broken promises is almost as high as the price tag for most people's insurance.
Millions of Americans have lost jobs, and others their policies and doctors because of the bomb of a system.
"As of last year, employer-sponsored health insurance premiums have risen twice as fast as wages; deductibles have risen almost seven times as fast. Premiums are up on average nearly $5,000," Hemingway reminds us.
And that's not even counting the cost to religious freedom of the administration's unconstitutional mandate.
Dozens of faith-based groups, employees, and companies have wound their way through the courts, challenging the order that people surrender their First Amendment rights on coverage they morally oppose.
Then, of course, there was the assurance that Obamacare wouldn't open the door to taxpayer-funded abortion, which, despite the political theater of an executive order, proved to be another bold-faced lie.
Meanwhile, insurance companies are leaving the exchange in droves, retreating to lick their billion-dollar wounds from a system overloaded with sick patients.
Now, on the eve of the new enrollment period, news is breaking that heavyweights like Humana and UnitedHealth have all but waved goodbye to Obamacare, operating a small number of plans in much fewer regions.
And Anthem may be next. "If we do not see clear evidence of an improving environment and a path towards sustainability in the marketplace, we will likely modify our strategy in 2018," executives warned.
The "Affordable" Care Act is such a spectacular catastrophe that even high-profile liberals like Bill Clinton are openly bashing it.
"So you've got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. It's the craziest thing in the world."
If denial were an Olympic sport, the Obama administration would have a gold-medal team.
The Congressional Budget Office has debunked the administration's spin over and over again with real-time evidence about the disaster of a health care law.
Even for the president, who continues to live in an alternate universe when it comes to some facts, this is astounding. Apparently, gender isn't the only reality this White House rejects.
