HILLARY'S PHONE-GATE: AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT

Exclusive: Top Soviet defector Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa on why Clinton can't be president

Editor’s note: Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa is the highest-ranking Soviet bloc intelligence official ever to defect to the West. He exposed the lies and the massive crimes and corruption of his former boss, Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu, giving the dictator a nervous breakdown and prompting him to post multi-million-dollar bounties on Pacepa’s head and send assassination squads to the U.S. to find his former spy chief and kill him. Make no mistake about it: Hillary Clinton’s lies regarding her gross mishandling of America’s national secrets should disqualify her from running for the White House.

Recently, a Brazilian Hillary, leftist President Dilma Rousseff, was impeached for lying to her country, taking kickbacks and engaging in corruption. And at this moment there are also millions of Venezuelans who have poured into the streets demanding the impeachment of their own version of a Hillary – President Nicolas Maduro, who in 2014 was named as one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People.”

God forgive me if I even compare Hillary with former Romanian tyrant Nicolae Ceausescu, for whom I was once top adviser, but there is a lesson here: 

Lying is the first step not only toward stealing, but toward economic disaster and many deaths that inevitably occur when a leader is grossly dishonest. On Christmas Day in 1989, Ceausescu and his wife were executed by their own people for lying, stealing and mass killing, at the end of a trial in which the accusations had come virtually word-for-word out of a book written by one of their closest advisers – this author.

The Clintons’ lies

In 1998, President Bill Clinton – who had hidden out in Moscow during the Cold War to escape the draft – was impeached by the House of Representatives for lying under oath, that is, perjury, as well as obstruction of justice, but a lenient, Republican-led Senate kept him in the White House.

The FBI has just revealed that Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party’s current nominee for president, continues her husband’s tradition of lying to the country.

It’s not true that when Hillary was secretary of state she used only two unprotected cellular phones, as she repeatedly told the nation; it turns out she used at least 13 other such devices, some of which she had destroyed in defiance of a congressional subpoena. It’s not true that Hillary handed over all her emails to the U.S. Congress, as required in the congressional subpoena; in fact, she destroyed more than 30,000 of her emails. 

It’s not true that Hillary used unprotected cellular phones only for personal correspondence, as she testified to Congress; the FBI established that 113 emails recovered from Hillary’s unprotected cell phones were retroactively marked classified by the State Department, that 22 were deemed Top Secret and 65 others classified Secret. Nearly 2,100 other emails on Hillary’s personal server were retroactively classified Confidential by the State Department.

Hillary’s blatant lies and the Democratic Party’s cover-up of those lies epitomize that party’s historical mishandling of America’s most closely guarded secrets, making the U.S. more vulnerable to the world’s gravest threats – including nuclear terrorism. A few weeks ago, the Kremlin announced that Russia has a brand new nuclear weapon, the “Satan 2,” equipped with American-developed stealth technology to avoid detection, which in just two minutes could turn the state of Texas – or a country the size of France – into an ash heap. Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told Congress that Russia now posed an existential threat to the United States. And Gen. Sir Adrian Bradshaw, NATO’s deputy supreme allied commander in Europe, put it similarly: “The threat from Russia and the risk it brings of miscalculation resulting in a strategic conflict represents an existential threat to our whole being.”

KGB intelligence on American nuclear weapons

Twenty-two years of my former life in Romania were spent supervising that country’s share of the Soviet bloc’s scientific and technological espionage. I knew then, and I say now, that the Russians did not invent their own atomic bomb, contrary to their public claims. Their espionage service reconstituted the American technology for producing nuclear weapons by patiently gluing together bits of apparently innocent information on the American bomb that were carelessly handled by various official Hillarys of that day. Then the Soviets reproduced that technology in super-secret nuclear cities staffed and managed by the foreign intelligence branch of the Soviet NKVD – later re-baptized KGB.

I was quite familiar with those secret KGB cities. Chelyabinsk was on a map of Russia, but Chelyabinsk-40, a city of 40,000 people located in the Urals, where the weapons-grade plutonium was stockpiled, was not. Nor did even the most highly classified Russian military maps show Chelyabinsk-65, Chelyabinsk-70, Chelyabinsk-95 and Chelyabinsk-115, all in the Urals. Those secret KGB cities were so enormous that they could not have been disassembled. So far there is nothing to indicate they have been.

Recently, Los Alamos National Laboratory – one of two U.S. facilities specializing in super-classified work on nuclear weapons design – published a remarkable pictorial report titled “History of the Russian Nuclear Weapon Program.” That report takes us inside the first KGB (at that time called NKVD) nuclear city, code-named “Arzamas 16” and lying hidden in eastern Kazakhstan, where leaks from former Hillarys were transformed into the first Soviet nuclear bomb.

A good part of the Los Alamos report is dedicated to various American, British and German citizens who – willingly or inadvertently – helped Stalin acquire nuclear weapons capability. These include Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage during wartime and were executed; Ethel’s brother, David Greenglass; German scientist Klaus Fuchs; and a raft of others. All were previously known to us but one: George Koval, code name “Delmar,” a former member of the U.S. Army assigned to the Manhattan Project. Koval disappeared from the U.S. in 1948, and we have now learned that he died in Moscow in 2006. The following year, Russia’s President Putin awarded him the “Hero of the Russian Federation” decoration for having helped the KGB reconstruct the technology for building the neutron fuse used for detonating the atomic bombs dropped on Japan on Aug. 6 and 9, 1945. That, according to Putin, considerably hastened the amount of time it took for the Soviet Union to develop an atomic bomb of its own.

Today, despite the freedom of speech now allowed in the former Soviet Union, there is a virtual information blackout there with regard to the intelligence field. If the KGB archives are ever really opened, we will certainly learn about a lot more people who, willingly or inadvertently, helped the KGB transform Soviet and contemporary Russia into a treacherous nuclear power – one that has also helped China and the frighteningly irresponsible North Korea get their hands on that dreadful weapon. Meanwhile, every American who loves our country should take a look at the above-mentioned Los Alamos report, for it sheds light on a world most people cannot even imagine.

“Arzamas 16” is now abandoned, but the dacha built inside that KGB city for KGB chairman Lavrenty Beriya – who also became deputy prime minister in charge of the Soviet Union’s new nuclear industry (1946-53) – was religiously preserved. On Sept. 29, 1949, KGB chief Beriya supervised the explosion of the so-called first Soviet nuclear bomb, which he slavishly named “Iosif-1.” Then Beriya called Iosif (Joseph) Stalin from the Semipalatinsk test site to say that “Iosif-1” had produced the same devastating mushroom cloud as the American “Fat Man.”

In 1950, when Stalin pinned a new gold star on Beriya’s already overloaded chest, he said the intelligence on American nuclear weapons had been as important for the Soviet Union as the whole military victory over Germany. No wonder that, after Stalin died, Beriya was executed. “Dead men don’t have memories,” was what I was later told by Gen. Aleksandr Sakharovsky, the Soviet Union’s chief intelligence adviser to Romania, who later would become Nikita Khrushchev’s spy chief.

Nuclear-armed KGB now running Russia

My old KGB counterparts must have been chortling in their graves on New Year’s Eve in 1999 when their boss, Vladimir Putin, once my equivalent in the KGB, was enthroned in the Kremlin at the end of a KGB palace putsch, detailed in “Disinformation,” the 2013 book I co-authored with professor Ronald Rychlak. Now the KGB, under new names, is sitting in the Kremlin itself.

According to a study published in the well-known Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta and republished by the Center for the Future of Russia, some 6,000 former KGB officers were running Russia’s federal and local governments by the year 2003. One of them is Russia’s current foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, a graduate of the KGB-sponsored Institute of International Relations and one of Hillary’s close buddies.

Until 1999, the KGB was the only intelligence organization in the world charged with producing nuclear weapons based on its own intelligence obtained from the U.S., and to guard its country’s nuclear arsenal. 

Now that same KGB is seated in the Kremlin, and it also holds the dreadful nuclear suitcase that could transform our earth into hell. The exact number of Russia’s nuclear warheads guarded and now managed by today’s KGB is a state secret. The Federation of American Scientists estimates that the Kremlin (aka the KGB/FSB) possesses 1,790 active strategic nuclear warheads, while the U.S. has only 1,750.

On March 16, 2014, Moscow state television announced that Russia could turn the U.S. into “radioactive ash.” That was not the empty threat most in the U.S. media and political class considered it. Recall that over the years, the KGB killed 94 million people within the Soviet empire alone. According to our congressional EMP Commission, this renamed KGB – which is now running the Kremlin – possesses an electromagnetic pulse bomb that could be easily launched by ISIS terrorists using an old Soviet Scud missile from a fishing boat off our East or West Coast.

According to former Director of Central Intelligence James Woolsey, who wrote the introduction to “Disinformation,” a single EMP bomb would generate cataclysmic destruction, with electrical power disappearing instantly, communications ceasing and transportation systems grinding to a halt. The congressional EMP Commission predicted that up to 90 percent of the U.S. population could possibly perish from starvation, disease and societal breakdown within 12 months of an EMP attack.

A secretary of state who doesn’t know what a secret is

After all the horrors that have been visited on this world, in part as a result of careless, grossly negligent or treacherous handling of state secrets, Hillary Clinton – having served eight years as a U.S. senator and four more as secretary of state – told the FBI last month  she did not know that the “(C)” marks on classified material she sent and received on her unprotected cellular phones meant classified. She says she thought the “(C)” markings were just referencing paragraphs marked in alphabetical order.

This is beyond lying. This is an insult to the intelligence of the American people, much like Bill Clinton’s statement to the grand jury was an insult when he denied any involvement with Monica Lewinsky. His statement that “there’s nothing going on between us” was truthful, he testified, because he was not actually engaging in a sexual relationship with the White House intern at the exact time he was questioned. Thus, his famous Clintonian answer: “It depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.”

Truly, America does not need another lying Clinton in the White House. There’s far too much at stake.
